South Bank Parklands in Brisbane
I am always fascinated by the amount of attractions that are free here in Australia. I made a post about the Roma Street Parklands before and today I show you the South Bank Parkland on the other side of the river.
Ich bin immer fasziniert von der Menge an Attraktionen, die hier in Australien kostenlos sind. Ich habe bereits einen Beitrag über die Roma Street Parklands verfasst und heute zeige ich euch die South Bank Parkland auf der andere Seite des Flusses.
The Southbank Parklands are on the opposite side of the CBD. They´re connected with the CBD via the Victoria Bridge which makes them easy accessible.
The Parklands feature a mixture of rainforest, waterpark, green areas and a beautiful riverfront promenade.
On the day we went there we first visited the Nepal Peace Pagoda which is a nepalese building and the only international remnant of the World Expo from 1988.
Die Southbank Parklands befinden sich auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite des CBD. Sie sind über die Victoria Bridge mit dem CBD verbunden, wodurch sie leicht zugänglich sind.
Die Parklandschaften bieten eine Mischung aus Regenwald, Wasserpark, Grünflächen und einer wunderschönen Uferpromenade.
An dem Tag, an dem wir dorthin gingen, besuchten wir zuerst die Friedenspagode von Nepal, ein nepalesisches Gebäude und der einzige internationale Überrest der Weltausstellung von 1988.

From that building there is a direct access to a Boardwalk. This boardwalk leads you through a typical australian rainforest with lots of huge palms, ferns and all other kinds of trees. Prepare yourself for a war with the mosquitos because even during bright daylight they´re trying to eat you alive.
Von diesem Gebäude gibt es einen direkten Zugang zu einem Boardwalk. Dieser Boardwalk führt einen durch einen typischen australischen Regenwald mit vielen riesigen Palmen, Farnen und allen anderen Arten von Bäumen. Bereite dich auf einen Krieg mit den Mücken vor, denn selbst bei hellem Tageslicht versuchen sie, dich bei lebendigem Leib zu fressen.
After a short walk through the rainforest, attacked by dozens of mosquitos we went to the Streets Beach at Southbank, the reason why we actually came here.
The Streets Beach are the main and by far the coolest attraction on the Sothbanks. It´s a 2.000 square meter area with around 4.000 cubic meters of real sand and 2 pools plus a little pool for the kids. There are toilets, showers and way more than enough restaurants to choose from. And all of this is for free.
The water could have been a bit colder when we were there, but apart from that it was the best idea on that day. Brisbane gets pretty hot days during summer with temperatures reaching up to 40 degree sometimes. Since Brisbane has no direct beach access, like Sydney for example, these pools are a good way to stay cool during summer.
Nach einem kurzen Spaziergang durch den Regenwald, angegriffen von Dutzenden von Mücken, gingen wir zum Streets Beach in Southbank, dem Grund, warum wir hierher gekommen sind.
Der Streets Beach ist die mit Abstand coolste Attraktion der Sothbanks. Es ist eine 2.000 Quadratmeter große Fläche mit rund 4.000 Kubikmetern echtem Sand und 2 Pools sowie einem kleinen Pool für die Kinder. Es gibt Toiletten, Duschen und weit mehr als genug Restaurants zur Auswahl. Und das alles ist kostenlos.
Das Wasser hätte etwas kälter sein können als wir dort waren, aber ansonsten war es die beste Idee an diesem Tag. Brisbane hat im Sommer ziemlich heiße Tage mit Temperaturen, die manchmal bis zu 40 Grad erreichen. Da Brisbane keinen direkten Zugang zum Strand hat, wie zum Beispiel Sydney, sind diese Pools eine gute Möglichkeit, im Sommer einen kühlen Kopf zu bewahren.
If you ever wanted to have a swim and see a skyline from a big city at the same time, this is the place to be. So when you´re visiting Brisbane and the weather is going crazy, make sure to visit that awesome Beach in the middle of the city.
Wenn du schon immer schwimmen und gleichzeitig die Skyline einer Großstadt sehen wolltest, dann ist dies der richtige Ort für dich. Wenn du also Brisbane besuchst und das Wetter verrückt wird, solltest du unbedingt diesen fantastischen Strand mitten in der Stadt besuchen.
