Axeman's Travelfeed #001 - Air Balloon Journey
For almost two years at steemit that was actually couple of cases when I have made travelfeed related post. Just thinking maybe to have them coming on more regular basis, maybe once per week, will see
So here is renewed #001 edition :)
And lets start from very very recent event from this week. If anybody still remember have posted some snapshot of my birthday morning with a nice unexpected present - air balloon flight over Klaipeda region
Well, I have some feeling that this secret present gonna be like this, since was advised will have to wake up at 06.00AM at my birthday!!! Pretty crazy, but after all really was wroth it
So the story began at Klaipeda where the air ballon team came to pick up us with small minivan with a trailer consisting all the necessary equipment.
Obviously the starting point every time is different and depends on current weather and mostly wind conditions. That morning was slow wind from the East, so we have to go about 20 km from Klaipeda to the East and order to fly back
So we have stopped at quite a large open place near the highway and that was a church nearby. Pretty philosophic I would say, prior to going up to 1500 mtrs height maybe time to pray a bit? Well, joking. After my parachute jump few years ago such an easy air journeys do not scary me at all :)
All balloon itself, basket and all equipment appeared possible to be stored pretty compact. But when you take everything out it starts to look pretty huge
First step was to unwrap balloon and fix it to the basket. Then, using cold air high power ventilator all the team further unwrapped and get all those ropes to stay in particular order. The basket itself laid on the side
Just thinking would be cool to make a fashion photoshoot inside such a dome :)
Well, after all ropes were fixed it came time to some more fun and getting some more hot air inside using the gas jet and slowly rising the balloon put the basket in a vertical position.
At this point we all got inside the basket which all the time was secured by the rope to minivan. A bit more hot air, the rope disconnected and we are going up!
That was pretty moody and partially cloudy morning, which was actually very good to make some photos and avoid direct sunlight. So here are first shots around not from very high, maybe 100-200 meters only. Beautiful Lithuanian nature and highway from Klaipeda to Vilnius
First part of the flight was pretty low, sometimes even almost touching the trees, just for fun. Either thing I guess some clients maybe just too much afraid of the height, so balloon pilot is very careful at this point checking the situation all the time
Now goes some vertical shots and some really minimalistic ones. Love to play with a patterns in such a way. Pity the harvest of golden wheat was already collected, so field didn't look so perfectly attractive
There are some really nice houses in the countryside. This one most probably used a motel and for some bigger parties, like weddings and so on..
Flying over the river with some views around with a small cities
Flying over railways station and some local autodrome - that brought some more interesting patterns to make a photos
And at this point we got much higher almost to 1500 mtrs with a perfect perspective view to all the side, just a big foggy air due high humidity
Pretty cool view to car scrap enterprise. Colorful and looks like toys :) Also basketball place in the field...
Actually the flight passed at the side of Klaipeda itself, but with long tele-photo lens still managed to get nice perspective of the city and port gates. Pretty funny shooting from such height the ships outterroads looks like flying in the air :D

So well, all good comes to the end. We have landed very softly. Waited a bit for a minivan team, they were following us all the way using GPS and whatever else :)
And couple more shots - balloon after landing and all the team sitting on collected balloon to press rest of the air out of it..
So to summarize -just amazingly perfect morning for a birthday eve. Amazing experience combined with perfect weather and great company
Just to mention that have few hundred of shots done and just unable to get all inside one post :)
