Cape Tarkhankut

The most western part of the Crimean peninsula.

My travels in Crimea are interesting in that each new place I visited is very different from the previous one in its natural landscape. The feeling that you are in a completely new place, and this is the same good old Crimea.

Today I will talk about a beautiful place - Cape Tarkhankut. The western part of the peninsula is rocky and ends with a sharp cape, on which stands a lighthouse.

The lighthouse is quite old. It was built in 1816. At first the lighthouse was with an oil lamp, later, it was replaced by a lamp that could rotate. Even later, at the very end of the 19th century, the lamp was replaced with kerosene.

The lighthouse is serviced by a whole team. At first it was 11 sailors. Around the lighthouse are the buildings in which the lighthouse keeper and crew lived.

I did not say that the lighthouse is 38 meters high. This rather tall structure survived the strong earthquake of 1927. Despite the fact that the lighthouse tower swayed from side to side, the structure did not fall apart.

In addition, the lighthouse is beautiful. I have heard an interesting opinion that churches and ships never spoil the landscape. I would also add lighthouses here.

The remains of a cargo ship are visible near the lighthouse in the sea. This bulk carrier is called Ibrahim-Yakim. In 2010, this ship fell into a storm and the sailors decided to anchor near the lighthouse. The chain broke and the ship ran aground. In addition, the ship received a hole and gained water.

The crew was able to evacuate and the ship was left lying on the ground.
After some time, the ownerless ship broke and sank. Now you can see only a small part sticking out of the water.

We assume that this is a small historical background on what can be seen in my photographs.

I will tell you honestly, when I arrived at Cape Tarkhankut and saw these rocks and the clear Black Sea, I was very impressed.
It was very beautiful. The water there is very clean and transparent, since there are no rivers and nothing pollutes the sea water. This is a great place for diving. Warm clear water, a lot of different fish, rocks - what else does an amateur diver need.

Tarkhankut is still a large natural reserve park.

The park combines on its territory the typical types of steppes that have been preserved unchanged, unique coastal landscapes with peculiar landforms, flora and fauna.

This territory is vast and it will not work in one day, and it is not necessary. There are several places in the reserve that are worth seeing to get an idea of ​​the place.

In general, the nature reserve is important for the conservation of flora and fauna, it is important for scientists biologists.

For me, as a photographer, this is a beautiful place with a unique natural landscape and gorgeous views.
