Travel to Prague : Day 5 - The Capital City of the Czech Republik

Welcome to the fifth day of my travel diary. This day is dedicated to Prague, the beautiful capital city of the Czech Republik.

Willkommen zum fünften Tag meines Reisetagebuchs. Dieser Tag ist Prag gewidmet, der schönen Hauptstadt der Tschechischen Republik.

After some rather intense and exhausting days traveling to through the Stolowe Mountains in Poland and the Braunauer Mountains in the Czech Republic I decided to take a quick look on this capital city, which was relatively close to my location and easily reachable by train. Reviewing this day now, I would have wished to stay there for much longer and if I ever have the chance I would stop definetly there again for a short day trip.

Nach einigen ziemlich intensiven und anstrengenden Tagen auf dem Weg durch das polnische Heuscheuergebierge und das tschechische Braunauer Gebirge habe ich mich entschlossen, einen kurzen Blick auf diese Hauptstadt zu werfen, die relativ nah an meinem derzeitigen Standort lag und mit dem Zug leicht zu erreichen war. Wenn ich diesen Tag jetzt noch einmal so reflektiere, hätte ich mir gewünscht, viel länger dort zu bleiben, und wenn ich jemals die Chance habe, werde ich auf jeden Fall wieder für einen kurzen Tagesausflug dort vorbeischauen.

What I found most appealing in this city was that beautiful architecture that gives this city this unique touch and on my day I focused my pictures on this. As the city was already founded during the 7th century in the Romanesque era, then flourished during the Gothic era and then lived through the Renaissance and Baroque, you can find a great variety of architectial features there which makes it an amazing city if you are looking for exactly this kind of beautiful variety. I have to admit that I myself are no real expert in determining those.

Was dieser Stadt gür mich am attraktivsten machte, war die wunderschöne Architektur die dieser Stadt diese einzigartige Note verleiht, und an meinem Tag habe ich meine Bilder darauf konzentriert. Da die Stadt bereits im 7. Jahrhundert in der Zeit der Romanik gegründet wurde, dann in der Gotik erblühte und dann die Renaissance und den Barock erlebte, finden sich hier eine Vielzahl von verschiedenen architektonischen Besonderheiten und sie zu einer faszinierenden Stadt machen, wenn Ihr auf der Suche nach genau dieser Art von Schönheit seid. Ich muss zugeben, dass ich selbst kein wirklicher Experte für die genaue Bestimmung solcher Dinge bin.

This city is really huge. The capital city itself is as large as 500 km^2 with additional 300 km^2 additional urban areas with 2,7 Million people living in this metropolis. So unfortunately I was only able to see a small fraction of it. And as the steets are really narrow, as usual for cities that were found so early, it was very difficult to properly get all the motives into one nice picture.

Diese Stadt ist wirklich riesig. Die Hauptstadt selbst ist 500 km^2 groß, mit zusätzlichen 300 km^2 städtischen Gebieten, in denen 2,7 Millionen Menschen leben. Also konnte ich leider nur einen kleinen Bruchteil davon sehen. Und da die Straßen sehr eng sind, wie es für so früh gebauten Städte üblich ist, war es sehr schwierig, alle Motive in ein schönes Bild zu bringen.

Since 1992 the historic centre of Prague is on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites and the city features the oldes University of Central Europe with its Charles University. For me I found the Charles Bridge to be an extraordinary place which is packed on both sites with lots of great statues.

Seit 1992 steht das historische Zentrum von Prag auf der UNESCO-Liste des Weltkulturerbes und die Stadt besitzt mit der Karlsuniversität über die älteste Universität Mitteleuropas . Für mich war die Karlsbrücke ein außergewöhnlicher Ort, der an beiden Seiten mit vielen großartigen Statuen geschmückt ist.

Some other thing that I found really interesting about Prague is that it also has a wax figure cabinet, that I have visited, also it is a very small one.

Eine andere Sache, die ich an Prag wirklich interessant fand, ist, dass es auch ein Wachsfigurenkabinett gibt, das ich besucht habe, auch wenn es nur sehr klein ist.
