Liberty Bridge photos from Budapest
The Liberty Bridge (Szabadság híd) was built in 1896 and connects Buda and Pest over the river Danube. It is next to the Great Market Hall and on the other side it leads to the Gellert bath.
In 1945 when the Germans left Hungary they destroyed it. It was rebuilt in the next year according to the original plans.
The middle part is 120 tons. A tramline goes through in the middle bit cars can use it as well. The tramline started in 1898 and was placed to the middle in 1938.
