A beautiful and original monument

They say that our famous poet Alexander Pushkin is known all over the world. And is known to many of his best works. Well, in our country he is very revered, his poems and fairy tales we learned from school by heart. But today we are not talking about the poet, but about a very interesting monument.
In order to see the monument, you need to come to the Russian resort town of Gelendzhik. On the Waterfront of the city grew a huge spreading oak. And the artist Panko was born an interesting idea.
He made the statue on the motives of Pushkin's fairy tales "the curved seashore an oak green".
I'll quote a little excerpt of the tale

There stands a green oak;
Golden chain on an oak that:
And day and night the cat scientist
All goes on a chain around;

And here is the cat the scientist near the oak.

It is seen that the cat is not simple, he is really a scholar's wearing a robe in one paw he has the book, and the second he lifted up and tells a story.
And the massive chain around the oak tree is also visible in the photo.
In the city of Gelendzhik students believe that if you RUB the book, nose or paws of a scientist cat, the exams can be passed perfectly.
On 6 June, the birthday of the poet Alexander Pushkin. And it was on this day in 2008 that a monument to the cat was erected here.
The sculpture was very pleasant to citizens and guests of the city and the sculptor decided to add also a mermaid. After all mermaids in fairy Pushkin, too, there is.
Here are the lines from the work:

A magic place: there wends his way,
A mermaid on branches sits;

Tall, almost 6 feet tall, a mermaid perched on the branches. But, it is not heavy, the branches will not fall, only 8 pounds.

Говорят, что нашего знаменитого поэта Александра Пушкина знают во всем мире. И известен многими своими лучшими произведениями. Ну а в нашей стране его очень почитают, его стихи и сказки мы учили со школы наизусть. Но сегодня речь идет не о поэте, а об очень интересном памятнике.
Для того чтобы увидеть памятник, нужно приехать в российский курортный город Геленджик. На набережной города вырос огромный раскидистый дуб. И у художника Панько родилась интересная идея. Он сделал памятник по мотивам сказки Пушкина "у лукоморья дуб зеленый".
Я сейчас процитирую маленький отрывок сказки:

У лукоморья дуб зелёный;
Златая цепь на дубе том:
И днём и ночью кот учёный
Всё ходит по цепи кругом;

А вот и котик учёный возле дуба. Видно, что кот не простой, он действительно учёный , одет в мантию, в лапе книга, вторая лапа поднята и кот рассказывает сказку. Так же видна массивная цепь вокруг векового дуба.
В городе Геленджике студенты считают, что если потереть книгу, нос или лапы ученого кота, то экзамены можно сдать на отлично.
6 июня, в день рождения поэта Александра Пушкина. И именно в этот день в 2008 году здесь был установлен памятник коту.
Скульптура очень понравилась горожанам и гостям города и скульптор решил добавить еще и русалку. Ведь русалка в сказке Пушкина тоже есть. Вот строчки из произведения:

Там чудеса: там леший бродит,
Русалка на ветвях сидит;

Высокая, 180 см русалка удобно сидит на ветке. Но, она не тяжелая, ветку не сломает, всего 8 кг.
