Adventures of the artist in the country of mammoths

in #travel5 years ago

From 26 to 28 July in the village Khotylevo Bryansk region held a wonderful multicultural festival "Bryansk Mammoth 2019. What kind of animal is this – a Mammoth, and even Bryansk? This time I had not only to go there, but also to take a direct part in this event as a teacher of drawing lesson.

A car pulled out from a line to a wheat field, passed the picturesque groves, and descended down the slope. From here, from a low hill suddenly opened a beautiful view of a wide open meadow with flowing in the willows of the river Desna. So we arrived at the place where there are already improvised gates with the emblem of the festival!

Around in the morning is already full of tents: some participants and guests of the festival arrived here since yesterday evening, taking a place near the river. There are also tents with a snack bar, a stage for the future concert and several large canopies for master classes. This is where I want to go! I find a sign with signs that indicate what and where it is, looking for the right tent and go there.

My event is about twenty minutes away. I pass between different tents, I watch who and what is engaged. Under one tent with the instructor yoga. There are twenty or more people here. They all bent in unthinkable poses - you can not even say that many came to such a lesson for the first time!

Elsewhere people hard mold some vases and pots from clay. Interesting case! My daughter last year she fashioned a small vessel, which then helped us to anneal in a special oven. Now we have an original handmade salt shaker in the kitchen – all thanks to one of the master classes of the festival.

In total, there are more than a dozen different events. For example, there are lessons on embroidery, origami, making "dream catchers", drawing. Basically, these are children's master classes, but there is something to do for adults.
In General, the people here are quite different. Mostly young people. Many couples or with children. Someone has already climbed into the river. The water here is fast, the beach is sandy, beautiful, very clean around. Everyone who came here observe the unspoken rule – not to litter, and all their waste to take away and take away with them.

Music is pouring from somewhere. I listen and suddenly realize with a smile that playing something from the 70s of the last century. Involuntarily comes to mind, if you suddenly find yourself in a time machine to the past, once in the encampment of hippies with their careful attitude to the surrounding world, the friendliness and the General atmosphere around.
Fortunately there are other reasons to compare: many girls go in long dresses to the ankle, and the guys wear long hair, or assorted barbs.

A SMALL note: for 4 consecutive years in a magnificent historic place – the village Khotylevo Bryansk region – is this wonderful cultural event. The name of the holiday is taken not "from the ceiling", but takes roots from the nature of local archaeological excavations. Incredibly, it is here that mammoth bones are still dug up, and everyone can see this by visiting the tour to the excavation!

Patrons Tenisheva lived here, taking in his estate of famous artists, writers, poets and philosophers of his time. So the place really breathes magic and history, so it was decided to make such an original and sincere festival here. The goals of "Bryansk Mammoth 2019" are:
• promoting the values of a sober, healthy and positive lifestyle;
• popularization of natural relationships between people and nature;
• familiarity with the original music, crafts, practices;
On the territory of the festival "Bryansk Mammoth" is forbidden to smoke, drink alcohol and drugs.

So it was my turn to hold a drawing lesson – the appointed time came. Here I am already waiting, because many people have already looked at the upcoming maser class in social networks and come here. The organizers provided information about the lesson in "Vkontakte", where I applied in advance, and here I sit in the center of the circle, bring guests up to date and distribute drawing supplies. Class has started.

In fact, I expected that there will be more adults, because I wrote in advance in the announcement – the lesson will not be for kids, but to my surprise, the main contingent for some reason were children. In General, it's okay, because I have a wealth of experience teaching drawing to children, both in groups and individually.

Paper, pencils and paint with brushes dispersed instantly. It's a good thing I thought it through, and there were no bumps. In the course explain the lesson by example because doing the whole process with them.

It's nice to see people's faces. Everyone is very interested, ask questions, listen very carefully and try to repeat and follow my instructions. Unfortunately, I almost did not have time to shoot on the phone most of the finished work. But among them were many very interesting and well done. It's nice to know that the lesson was fruitful and all visitors received a lot of useful information for drawing with watercolor paints.

But now, it's time to wrap up. I have another art event scheduled today, so I'm in a hurry to get back home. It's a little sad, because then I was told how people sat around the campfire in the evening, played guitars and had interesting conversations on philosophical topics. Oh, maybe next year I'll be here for the night.

I was taken back by some friends who gathered in Bryansk. But if someone wanted to leave on their own, there were several taxis. Not very frequent, but several buses regularly cruised along the route "Bryansk mammoth – Plane near the "Line".

If anyone is interested to read more about this festival, you can find a page "Vkontakte" or other social networks. Also a lot of information on the Internet, which is available to all. If you like a healthy lifestyle and outdoor recreation, be sure to visit this event next year. See you at the Bryansk mammoth 2020!

What a lovely festival! The spirit of community and creativity seems to be wonderfully thriving ! I can see a lot of enthusiastic students and just people, coming together, to enjoy themselves and the day :)

I love the photos and I really enjoyed your narration, as well, @yurche :D

Your class seems popular! Really charming to see the various results of your students of the day, too <3

Thanks, @veryspider! I didn't expect to have so many children there. Adult students did more interesting work, but I did not have time to take pictures of them.
