The First Impression of Paris, My Europe Memories 2.2 初探巴黎——欧洲记忆之二（下）

As mentioned in the previous post, my first visit to Paris was challenging both mentally and physically. It was more like marching than sightseeing.

On Saturday, we spent half day in the Louvre. During the rest of the day, we visited the Notre Dame, L'hôtel des Invalides, the Panthéon, and the Eiffel Tower, and passed by the Place de la Concorde as well as the Tuileries Garden.

O.M.G. That was just too challenging for half a day. I cannot find many photos of these places on my hard drive - might be too tired to take any.

前面也说了，这是一次对身心都极有挑战的旅程（想起来都觉得有点像军训拉练）。

周六这一天除了卢浮宫和凯旋门，其实我们还去了圣母院、荣军院、先贤祠还有埃菲尔铁塔，协和广场杜勒里花园这些都算路过就忽略不计了，累得照片都没怎么拍。

However, I remember this little duck. I was sitting in front of it, thinking to myself 'I wish I could be as chill as the duck'.

Now you see the necessity of slowing down & no rush in Paris (in any other places too!). Although overwhelmed by the profound culture, I remembered nothing but how painful my feet was.

Well, that's Saturday.

我对这只鸭子记忆犹新的理由是——我当时累趴了坐在它面前，心想我要是也能跟它一样原地发呆就好了。

所以不要暴走，不要暴走，不要暴走，这里有个活生生的反例——什么法兰西的慵懒随性一点都没有体会到，只记得走得有多累了。

那么这个周六就这么翻篇吧。

The Last Stop - Fontainebleau 最后一站—枫丹白露

Sunday was relaxing, compared with the crazy Saturday.

We visited Fontainebleau, which becomes our benchmark to all other palaces in Europe. Apparently nowhere else in Europe is comparable to Fontainebleau in terms of the luxury decorations, and the beautiful gardens.

周日相比之下轻松得多，我们只去了枫丹白露而已。

这个地方从此成为了我们眼中欧洲宫殿的标杆——之后去哪里的宫殿都会拿枫丹白露出来比，从装饰奢华程度和园林景观来说，在欧洲自然是没有别处比得上的。

You probably won't remember any of these if you weren't looking at the photos. Maybe what you can recall is your friend kept saying 'no wonder the people started the revolution' as you walking down the hallway.

这些吧，你不看照片也许根本记不起来，你会记得的大概只有"真是穷奢极欲"，以及同伴边走边感慨的那句“不革命行吗”。

The garden is amazing and peaceful. Actually I prefer the garden to the luxury rooms.

The ten young engineers finally experienced the laid-back French lifestyle at their last stop of Paris. Although no one liked the packed schedule, we all became good friends and would joke about this experience when we got together in the following years.

What I learnt from this experience is, when you are visiting a city like Paris, don't try to cover all attractions, try to set a theme of the trip. The theme could be culture, food, art, even shopping, anything that you like. To me, it's better to experience one part of the destination thoroughly than to know the destination generally.

即使游人如织，花园给人的印象还是非常恬静优美。比起奢华的宫殿，我更喜欢在花园度过的时光。

就这样，这十名年轻的工程师终于在巴黎之旅的尾巴上体会到了慵懒的法式调调。我们之后再也没有十个人一起旅行过，但是都成为了好朋友，在之后的几年里总会拿这段囧途出来开玩笑。

我想我从这次经历中学到的是，游览巴黎这样的大都会切忌面面俱到。或许你可以设定一个主题，文化之旅、吃货之旅、艺术之旅，甚至买买买之旅，任何你喜欢干的事情。在我看来，深入了解城市／国家的一部分比走马观花囫囵吞枣强得多，也有意思得多了。
