Ireland trip - day 8
Today was our last day traveling around rural areas of Ireland. Tomorrow we will bring back our rental car to Dublin and stay there overnight until we fly back to Austria on Tuesday.
Today we visited Fort Dunree. An old military fortification that has been attacked many times over the years by nearly everyone trying to get a foothold in Ireland including the Vikings, the Normans, the Gallowglassses, the English, the Germans and the French.
Today it basically serves the purpose of a museum.

The second stop we made today was Grianan of Aileach which is a small stone fort that used to be a center for politics and culture in the early irish history.

As already said, today was our last day in county Donegal, Ireland. It was a very pleasant stay with many beautiful impressions.
Fun fact:
Our pedometer counted 98716 steps and we downed a height equal to 416 floors.
My feet are quite happy to get a few days off.

This is an interesting museum :) Those red cannons make really eye-catching features, and I kinda like the orange roofs off the rusty barracks... !
Grianan of Aileach looks so pretty, and .... ANCIENT ! Love it !
