Yesterday a friend and I decided to go travel somewhere, we ended up going to one of the Bulgarian mountains called "Pirin". Afterwards we decided not to go by car, but rather take a 5 hour train ride through the mountains and here is how it went.

The Train

The train itself is really small, it has around 5 wagons and is diesel and steam powered, which gives out an unique feel to the journey itself.

It goes no faster than 40km/h which makes the journey very interesting and a great opportunity to have an amazing "on the go" overview of the beautiful Bulgarian nature. Also there is an open space between the wagons where you can smoke and enjoy fresh air and the view.

The ride is amazing and the little train goes through some crazy and adventurous places, also some cliff sides that are quite scary to look at when on the go.

The passengers were like minded amazing people. We actually met one of them and went to sleep over at his hotel, as he invited us to stay. All the people were very positive and open towards having a conversation.

At the End

At the end of the journey you reach a mountain side village where you can start walking and trek the mountain itself.

As we left the train we had made arrangements with nearly all of the people in the train to go drink in a local Pub. After having a few drinks the idea to trek the mountain had passed away and we just ended up enjoying the peace and melancholy of the small village, taking some cool strolls around in nature, afterwards taking the train back to our hometown.

The first gif has the atmosphere of these old black and white movies. Can almost hear the sounds. Looks like it was quite a journey. Resteemed, to share some BG vibes :)

That's great that everyone on the train hung out together.

Yeah, most of the people in the mountains are extremely open minded and talk friendly ^^

Much love

awww welcome 🙂

Glad to have you back and even gladder you had such a nice time. The photos are so serene and make me want to be there :)

Consider visiting. Bulgaria is cheap :) Costed me 30SBD to fund the trip (taking 4 different trains). Al thought I didn't really use SBD that would be the equivalent. (+hotel)

Oh wow! That is cheap. For now, everything I earn is going into my household expenses funds and my son's tuition fee. Just not taking out money from steemit yet to keep it growing so no vacations for now. Maybe in a few months :)
