Memories Series: 10 Days In Paradise: Personal story - Photo Collection (Part II)
On a trip you won’t discover the universe or won’t set a foot on the moon. But what definitely will happen to you, is that you will encounter all the parts of yourself: the adventurer, the fearful, the complainer, the joker, the decisive, the dependent or the independent, the lonely or the sociable; the child, the adult or the adolescent, the worker, the flexible or the rigid, the affectionate, the kind, the attentive, the writer, the narrator or even the poet; the melomaniac, the artist, the storyteller; the one who would get on the sofa to watch a movie with a blanket in front of a fireplace, the one who doesn’t want to know anything about having a fixed place to be, which would bore people with a list of possible "beings" or the one which would open the possibility that others were something of all that.
I used to wake up, open the tent and watch this scene. Time stopped, nothing else used to matter, just those sunrise soft colors, the dogs and the vibes that place gives you.
Mornings were so joyful; I loved to find Carolina playing with the local puppies. The tender light of the sun caressed the sand, warmed the water, you could feel more grateful of being alive. This time I launched my desire to travel to the cosmos. When your soul asks you for adventure, say where you want to go, what you would like to do, who you want to travel with, when you would do it, ask as if you were praying in a placid and relaxed state, with all the intention and infinity it will give you the means to make it. Do it honestly, without hesitation, be specific.
One day we decided to explore the jungle forest, we walked for hours. It's well known that there is another village like a thousand of kilometers away from where we camped. As we went deeper to the forest, the signs of civilization started to dissapear.. But for our surprise, we found a house in the middle of nowhere. As we approached it, it seemed like it was abandoned, when we got there we found out that it was some sort of art studio. There was some sculptures and paitings around, also some notebooks full of poetry. We looked around and found a book with a photograph and a description on it, the man in the photo was Andrés Gómez, who turned out to be a venezuelan artist and a teacher.
This is the the man we thought owned the house (studio). We waited for almost an hour there to see if he arrived at some point, but nothing happened.
We kept exploring, enjoying nature, everywhere we turned to see was full of life. The weather was really hot, literally like 40°c plus the humidity, you could dehydrate yourself easily. When we decided that was enough exploring, we went back to camp. Cepe has many rivers and water pits in the heart of its forests, I used to enjoy bathing in them.
A couple of days after (We stayed 5 days at Cepe), was time to pick up the camp and getting ready to go to our next stop: Chuao . It's a 15 minutes boat ride from Cepe, this shore is more populated, it's actually considered a small town or village. There's no land access to these two villages, that's the reason you have to get into a boat and navigate!
So here I am, one of the water pits I metioned. Honestly they were REALLY cold, but refreshing.
It's been years since the last time I said I had all the time in the world. Or at least, all the time I need to live with ease. Because years ago I realized that life is not worth it if you can’t do with it what you want. That day I made the decision that I was going to break the erratic inertia of living a life I didn't understand. So what better way to challenge yourself, to get out of your comfort zone than traveling? As I said at the beggining, you'll get to know yourself, to get in touch with the real you.
