Portugal is a lovely, tourist friendly and inexpensive destination in Europe. At a later time I will take you around Lisbon the capital city but today I’ll be taking you to Cascais which is 30km west of Lisbon in Portugal. Cascais is considered one of the richest suburbs in Portugal with nice sandy beaches and some tourist attractions. It is also a former residence of the royal family which is why this small town is so popular. The word Cascais means small shell in Portuguese. It is also a very popular day trip destination from Lisbon which is approx 30mins train ride. From Lisbon, we took a train to Cascais which was quick and easy with clear signage around the stations for tourists.

It is recommended that you either tour the city with a bicycle (the must thing to do!), by foot or by the city bus. When we arrived, hired our bike from the tourist office - note: to hire the bike is free of charge. It is apparently subsidised by the government for tourists provided you give them some ID and advise them of your accommodation. Also a note to remember is the council only provide the bikes, no helmet or bike locks so if you want to hire bikes with accessories, you will need to find a proper bike shop.

葡萄牙是一個很漂亮，友善和我覺得在歐洲消費比較低其中的國家．里斯本是葡萄牙的首都但今天我會介紹另一個城市 - 卡斯凯什 (我會下一集介紹里斯本給你們). 卡斯凯什裡里斯本有30公理而是給人的影像是一個很富裕的城市. 卡斯凯什是前皇室住所和很漂亮的海灘所以這個很受遊客歡迎．卡斯凯什的葡萄牙文是貝殼的意思. 從里斯本到卡斯凯什大概要30分鐘而且在火車站裡面有很多標誌給遊客。

到了之後, 你可以租一架單車（這個一定要做的！), 走路或坐市區巴士看這個城市。我們到步的時候就到遊客詢問處租單車- 注意在遊客，詢問處租單車是免費的．這是當地政府給遊客一點優惠希望我們慢慢欣賞這個美麗的城市．你們只需要給他們看你的證件我和告訴他們你住的地址就可以租單車．還有一點要注意的就是政府不會提供頭盔或單車鎖所以如果你想要這些東西的話，你要到一間要付錢的商店租單車.

We are ready to go! The weather was extremely warm when we arrived. There were already some locals on the beach swimming, sunbaking enjoying the nice weather.

我們預備出發啦！到了之後天氣變得非常熱．在沙灘上已經看見很多當地人在游泳，曬太陽享受當天的好天氣。

Look out for some cool street art around the city - mean of them tells you a story

在市區裏面，看看一些牆上的圖畫，很多都會好像講故事一樣

Cascais is a former fishing village therefore you can still see a lot of boats around the water - now mainly luxury boats.

卡斯凯什以前是一個漁村所以你會在水上有很多船，比較貴一些的船也很多

If you are not so confident on a bike like me, you don’t need to worry as there are designated bike tracks, plenty of open spaces and on the day we were there, not many people were around.

如果你騎自行車好像我沒有很大信心的話，其實不用擔心因為這裏有轉用單車線和地方很寬闊所以很多地方給你慢慢騎。還有這裏的遊客不是特別多所以不用擔心會有很多人

First highlight - Santa Marta Lighthouse Museum. Unfortunately it was closed on the day we were there

第一站 - Santa Marta 燈塔博物館. 博物館當天關門所以沒有進去

Castro Guimarães museum. We didn’t go inside but took a few photos. On the information leaflet, Castro Guimarães is called a museum but in fact its a place with nicely decorated house with furniture, paintings and some other displays.
