This is my 2018 tribute to Rome as I paid my annual visit a few days ago and I still feel I will wake up there!

What’s not to like about Rome? The city itself is a museum; that is the historical centre. The food? Amazing! The museums? Memorable. This time, I visited a Monet exhibition and the Vatican museum - once again. There is also a Picasso exhibition currently, which unfortunately I didn’t have the time to visit, although I have to say the older I get, the more I admire him.

I think the most amazing feature, apart from the buildings and the fountains, is the colour of the buildings. The various shades of ochre and yellow and green are to be admired; the churches that are found everywhere; the bells that ring in every corner; the early mornings where you can observe the people exercising by the Tiber river; the beautiful people; the mouthwatering food and especially the wines!

Piazza di Spagna region:

This is the place to enjoy a view and to shop expensive labels. For the lovers of coffee and sweets I recommend Antico Caffé Greco (Via Condotti) for the amazing tiramisu and a quick espresso. This is a very old place with a theatrical atmosphere. Famous people have been its lovers. It is certainly worth a visit.

In the same region, there is La Buvette, a modern, cosy café-restaurant:

This time I stayed at Hotel Homs. It was my second time in this hotel, which is at a good spot, in Piazza di Spagna. Nevertheless it is a bit crowded area and I wouldn’t say there is further value apart from location. Overall it is decent:

Piazza Barberini:

In this area, you may visit Palazzo Barberini, which hosts an exhibition (the Picasso sign on the outside refers to only one painting of Picasso in this exhibition):

Nontheless the Picasso exhibition is near Palazzo Barberini, in Scuderie del Quirinale:

We had lunch in this nice pescheria called Pescheria Barberini in Via di S.Nicola da Tolentino.

Wow! This is a very detailed post compared to much of the other posts I've found about travelling - Very solid content indeed. I'm always searching for spesific information about ideas and places when I'm looking into destinations, and this helped a lot. I trust you know the city well too, since you say you go anually. Sadly, I've never been to Rome - But this just made me lust for my next trip even more.

Thanks for sharing!

I highly recommend Italy!!
Glad y liked it!

I've been to Italy actually. I've been to Liguria, in a small place called Levanto, and from there I took a day trip to Cinque Terre - Which was really amazing! And Toscana/Tuscany where I rented a villa in a small town called Palaia. From there I went to Pisa, Firenze, and Lucca. Tuscany completely blessed me. It is just the most beautiful place I have ever seen. However, I still long for Roma.

I love tuscany too. Try going to the south: sorrento,amalfi...amazing..
A question: in cinque terre you go on foot? Or can y also drive?

You can walk on foot. To be honest I don't know about driving. What we did is that we took a boat from Levanto that stopped for 90-120 minutes at each city, so I don't know about the availability by car. But there are paths between the cities that are built in the mountain-side by the ocean, which is supposed to be an experience in itself.

Many thanks!
