Australia's most famous route leaves tourists breathless
The Great Ocean route, the most famous thoroughfare in Australia, has a rather fascinating history and hides lesser known places worthy of research.
Today, the road is a classic tourist tour when from Melbourne, along the coast, travels west. He reveals to coast travelers coastal towns, national parks and unrealistic scenery.
However, this time is much more than just a nice panoramic view. It is a monument, a memorial dedicated to the Australian soldiers who died in World War I.
The road was built by 3,000 comrades of soldiers, returning home. The route was opened in 1932 and then for the first time connected the small settlements along the coast of the Great Australian Gulf.
The convoy follows the Torquay shore to Alansoord. The city of Lorne, which stretches on the sandy beach, is a favorite resort for tourists from Melbourne.
The road goes through the Great Otway National Park and its great forest, as well as through the famous rock formation, known as the "Twelve Apostles".
The Great Ocean route is not the route to which you need to hurry, but you need to enjoy the phenomenal view of the sea and all the accompanying amenities that it offers.
