Your travel plan - Amsterdam city trip - Four Days

in #travel6 years ago

Hallo Steemianer,

welcome to another issue of Your Itinerary. I wish you a lot of fun with it and hope you can start your next journey easier and more relaxed with the information.

Preamble

I love to travel, but it is not always so easy and cheap with three children. But where there's a will, there's a way. Since I have travelled a lot with my own children since I was a child, then with my parents, today, I would like to share my experience with you here. I have been to well over 50 destinations and at the moment only Australia is missing from the continents. All hotels, sights and information listed here have been extensively researched and selected by me according to comments, ratings and the best of my knowledge. Of course I can't guarantee for anything but I and also many who have used my service have driven well. Which also reflects the feedback I receive.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is unique among the European metropolises. Compared to other cosmopolitan cities, Amsterdam is quite small, but it offers all the advantages of a metropolis - a multitude of historical sights, world-famous museums and a distinctive nightlife. But everything is manageable and on a small scale. Amsterdam is rather than canals, coffee shops and the red light district. The city itself has an international flair and offers something for every taste. From canal cruises, museum visits and shopping trips to various forms of entertainment and evening programmes. Nothing is far apart and everything is easily accessible by public transport.

Today's destination: Europe -> Netherlands -> Amsterdam

Type: city trip

travel time: 4 Days

The journey

By train 🚊 :

The Amsterdam Centraal Station is the main station of Amsterdam. From here you can reach the centre of the city quickly and easily. There are train connections in all directions at the main station and connections to Bus, Tram, Underground and Ferry boats.

By bus 🚌 :

The best international provider for bus travel is here Flexibus. The journey with these buses is quite cheap and also the comfort in long-distance buses is getting better and better. There is partly free WLAN and a beverage service like in an airplane. The bus usually stops at Schiphol Airport or Sloterdijk station.

By car 🚘 :

The approach usually takes place over the motorways A1 or A2, before you reach the entry roads into the city over the ring motorway A10. However, I would recommend not to drive to the city center, there are lots of one-way streets and parking is between 8 and 10 euros an hour. You should use the P+R parking lots which are distributed around the city and which cost 8 Euro a day on average, a train ticket makes it even cheaper. On this page you can inform yourself about the locations of the P+R seats and also about the not quite simple price system.

By plane ✈ :

The Schipol Airport is just outside Amsterdam but can be reached every 12 minutes from the Amsterdam Centraal Station by train. At the moment, a one-way ticket by public transport costs €4.30. For booking flights I recommend the website Momondo.com which really has some of the best prices.

Amsterdam and its sights

Day 1

After check-in you can take a look at the area directly towards the city centre and if you want to chill (as they say in Amsterdam), I recommend the Sarphatipark near by.If you fancy a trip to rural Holland you should book this tour already today for the last day, here you can admire a unique landscape and beautiful windmills.

Day 2

Today you can start the day with a nice walk around the Albert Cuyp Market it is only a few minutes away and the biggest street market in Europe (the market is closed on Sundays). Following a photo session at I amsterdam, there are some museums nearby. Very interesting is the Van Gogh Museum, get online tickets if you want to get in, that shortens the waiting time, The page I have of course chosen you.

Day 3

Now it's off to the city centre, here it's great to stay in the small cafes. I recommend a Hop-on-Hop-off-Ticket for the boats, with which you can easily go down the canals and get in and out. The green line starts at Hauptbahnhof-West and the orange line at Rembrandtplein which is also another attraction. You can also get on and off at any of the other canal stops. In the evening, take a look at the world-famous Red Light Quarter Walletjes.

Day 4

If you don't go to the windmills today, you may not have seen the Het Scheepvaartmuseum. And here at the end I have chosen some special destinations e.g. wicked Glow Golf so to speak miniature golf with black light. In the Micropia it should be very interesting and funny, a little further away is the Cannabis College which certainly also has its appeal for interested people.

Special excursion destinations

Botanical Garden (Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam)

This small but fine botanical garden lets you enjoy the tranquility of a really very beautiful garden from the hustle and bustle of tourists, it houses the giant water lily Victoria and what is really a great experience is a butterfly house, if you have not yet done this it is actually a must.

Reypenaer Cheese Tasting Room

In this great shop you can taste as much cheese as you like, yes, you can eat as much as you like. Each cheese is accompanied by a wine to round off the taste. The owners only buy the cheese from all over Holland and then refine it for your business and you know your trade only too well. So bring hunger with you on this visit and of course register for the tasting beforehand.

Paradiso

Club Paradiso is the most famous stage in the Netherlands, where stars like Prince and the Rolling Stones have already performed and even today the stars of modern times visit this club to give their best. Tickets for events can be foundhere. If you want to dance in the club outside the mainstream you should always do so on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Please note

  • Avoid addressing the Dutch in German, so don't really like it in English first and then come to one if you want to speak German.
  • Watch out for the red asphalt on the ground, these are the cycle paths and should really be avoided as pedestrians because the city centre is hot.
  • There are 173 coffeeshops selling marijuana in Amsterdam, please note that you can only buy marijuana in the shop from the age of 18 and not more than 5 grams a day.
  • Mobile: Since June 15, 2017, the national tariff applies and there are no roaming charges anymore.
  • All targets can be mixed as you like, of course.
  • However, I have all destinations and restaurant planned according to community proximity.
  • Check distances if necessary. Sometimes public transport must be used.

Season

The climate around Amsterdam is very mild, with average temperatures of no less than 0 degrees in winter and no more than 24 degrees in summer. The summer months are June, July and August.

Special events

Kwaku summer festival, When: 14 July - 29 July, every weekend during this period
Pride Amsterdam When: 28.07.2018 - 30.07.2018
King's Day in Amsterdam When: 27.04.2019
