2018 FIFA World Cup Russia: Best summer terraces in Moscow
Ok, so now when we're all sorted for the best Russian cuisine and rooftop places, I feel like I’m ready to share my top 5 summer terraces (without a stunning view but with an amazing atmosphere!).
WINE & CRAB
Address: Nikolskaya street, 19-21
If you ever wondered how many varieties crab might have, this place is for you. It is not just one of the most prettiest summer terraces in central Moscow, but also a whole lot of crabs and wine sourced from all corners of the world. Snow, Kamchatkan King, Murmansk King, Helmet, Spanner, Blue King and Hanasaki crab meat can be ordered as a side or main (from $4 per 100 grams).
The wine list is so long that it had to be displayed on iPad, and not on the paper (hard copy would have weighed almost a kilogram). In total, there are about 900 items in their wine list, that is easily filtered by a specific grape variety, region, price or flavor.
STRELKA
Address: Bersenevskaya Naberezhnaya, 14/5
Though Strelka bar & terrace is not located somewhere high up, it still offers a nice view on Moscow-river and one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Russia - Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. The atmosphere here is simply amazing. Cool crowd, pretty art deco interiors, deep house djs, yummy food and a great choice of drinks.
Strelka is one of the most happening nightspots in the city so keep this in mind if you’re considering an “out out” option too.
BUTLER
Address: Trekhprudnyy Pereulok, 15
Butler’s summer terrace is elegant and cosy, a perfect option for an early dinner or brunch on Sunday. It offers Italian / Mediterranean menu with focus on Sicilian dishes. Try perfectly cooked calamari, ravioli or prawns or any other current specialities from their Italian chef.
If you love oysters then you should definitely come here on a weekend and take advantage of their special offer: a bottle of champagne ($104) + oysters ($3/per one)
VILLA SUMOSAN
Address: Burdenko street d.3
Located in my area (still central Moscow), this terrace is part of Sumosan family that you might heard of in London, Monaco or Dubai. So expect contemporary Asian cuisine, a 'zen' like environment and a cute Japanese garden. Everything is beautifully presented – even the soap in the toilets is pretty, in the shape of a koi carp.
Here, away from the city noise, you can escape from the bustle and enjoy refreshing cocktails, excellent wines, as well as special blends and mixes of shisha.
