Pagoda along the Road to Wun Ju Sa temple in Wha Sun Area

in #travel5 years ago

Wun Ju Sa was a large temple, so pagodas and Buddha statues were scattered in this large area.
It was said that there were 1000 pagodas and 1000 Buddha statues near this temple in 15th century according to the record.

But now only 93 Buddha statues and 21 pagodas are survived.
The statues and the pagodas in this temple were quite different from those of other places and time

In this post, I’d like to introduce pagodas set up along the road to the temple.
As walking along the road to the temple after passing through the one pillar gate, I could see lots of pagoda here and there. The appearance was very unique to other ones.

Below were the pagodas along the road. It was very tall compare to other pagodas.

Interesting thing was there were pagodas on the ridge of mountain.

The pagodas on the ridge seemed to looking down me while I was walking on the road.

Interesting that the pagodas were of different sizes and kind in the same area. Very amazing that there were so many in the small area to begin with. We have a pagoda amid the cherry trees down on the Tidal Basin in Washington, DC

It is a very short squat one and I was trying to figure out if it had any meaning to it.

@slowwalker,
1000 pagodas, 1000 Buddhas statues! Wow by watching what survived yet, I could imagine how beautiful and how sacred this area at that time! Wonderful photography and thanks for the effort you put on here!

Cheers~

Wun Ju Sa Is a large temple indeed, I didn't know it'll even have pagoda, it seems the temple is rich in a whole lot and wow and amazing view which you captured the last pagoda in that picture really, it's awesome, the mountain ridge is so colourful

@slowwalker, Wun Ju Sa temple had huge no of pagodas and Buddha statues built up previously. There were tallest stone pagodas.

there were 1000 pagodas and 1000 Buddha statues near this temple in 15th century according to the record.

That was massive but fortunate to see some few statues. Looking so beautiful mountain and placed some pagodas there.

This particular shape seems to be popular in garden statuary as well, obvioulsy inspired by such amazing temples as these. They also make me think of that joyful structure you get when you balance rocks just so in the woods or on the beach and when they balance you feel a sort of harmony with the world. I wonder if they channel some sort of positive energy?
Another great post @slowewalker

Very informative, when I was still on Lingga Island in 2012, I had found Pagoda, and the structure was the same. The pagoda that I found was in the building form not like the statue like this and more younger than this. I became curious about the name of Pagoda and the structure, because overall the structure is same everywhere. Is there a specific purpose about this sir @slowwalker ?? Thanks for sharing this, God bless you

What beautiful structures these pagodas are. I love these stories of incredible feats of construction, the original setting in the 15th Century must have been awe inspiring to stay the least. RESTEEMED

Beautiful post, beautiful photos. Pagoda make me remember about Meru, about menhir in megalithicum culture. I just comment with this word. i hope you accept it

tall pagoda towering
become a watch tower every second
become a center of worship for the people
emit serenity in all directions
give direction for those who are still lost
lulled into the life of the world
to re-remember the creator

Warm regard from indonesia

@slowwalker, beautiful pictures! Where it is?

It becomes a history for the area where the pagoda is built, whether the direction of the road to the pagoda has a small forest and I see it from the photo below.
