That was the wooden sculptures under the eaves.
There were wooden sculptures of people shape supporting the roof of the hall in every corners.
There was a story relating to the sculptures.

When a carpenter was building this hall long time ago, there was a woman who prepared meals for the carpenter. The carpenter loved her, but suddenly she left away.
So the carpenter made her shape supporting the heavy roof.
It was said that making those supporting sculptures of her shape was a kind of punishment to her.
Her spirit had to suffer the punishment supporting the heavy roof, even though she ran away.

This hall was not so large, but it had the attractive appearance.

It seemed that this building was rebuilt after the Japanese Invasion 1592-1597.

@slowwalker,
That's a nice story! I like that punishment, anyway due to that story, the carpenter could made that wonderful building roof with those wooden sculptures! Otherwise, we will not see these sculptures on these roofs never! Nice photography and a story about that building as well!

I definitely saw that the building was rebuilt, and I was imagining how the building looked like before it was built, the Jeon Deung Sa temple is such a feat, look at the mastery of the wood carving, it's so artistic and full of mastery, well-done for the amazing shots

Those are truely treasures!!!! It is a pity that we lost so much in terms of making buildings beautiful and give them some kind of unique spirit with sculptures like this. I hope we will see a rennaissance at some point!

Korea is blessed with great artistic value. Thanks for sharing with us.

beautiful and detailed photos.

Not just aiming at objects but also giving enlightenment to readers. And you also tell the story of the carpenter who fell in love but was left alone. then he punished the woman by making a curse on the statue supporting the roof. so wherever he is he will feel that heavy burden.
Surely all suffer, both of them feel heavy loads in different versions.
But if he returns, will the sentence be revoked?
