Thanks for sharing. Hearing now so many reports about Venice not being Romantic. So sad to hear! Also, some and many of the Gondola trips became rip off. If you want to get romantic - avoid the peak hours (well, 11am to 11pm I guess) - and you can get decent price on most of things (and services) if you just dare searching a little bit outside the main streets.
But just go there before it all sinks down :)
