Castle stairs in the golden sun!

Look at this wild fortress that countless soldiers guarded throughout the ages ~

It's totally mind boggling to me that humans built something so impressive,

and the whole point is defense & protection from war & attack. 

How many men stood up here for how many years and faced how many battles??

Can you imagine being the one who saw an attack approaching your home & your people? Can you imagine being the one responsible for your community's security??  

What if there was nothing separating you and your loved ones from savage attack except the stones you piled up in conscious anticipation? Would your building withstand a siege?
