Road Trip Day 4: The Great Smoky Mountains - Elk Encounters and Roller Coasters!

Day 4 of our family travels began with the trip from Enota Springs in Georgia, which you can check out here on Day 3, to Gatlinburg, TN.

Along the way we saw beautiful mountains.

Stopped for a photo op at a pull over on the windy road.

And saw elk roaming very close to the road!

Apparently they are celebrities around here, they seem very comfortable with all of the vehicles pulled over and people taking pictures.

That night we met up with my husband's side of the family for a quick dinner at a surprisingly authentic Mexican restaurant in Gatlinburg at Estrella Hondumex. I can say it was authentic with confidence since going on our recent trip to Mexico. I have a post about a crazy experience at a restaurant we went to there, it's a funny read!

After dinner we went to Rowdy Bear Mountain Coaster and had a blast! I even took a video!

So much fun! The lights are totally the best part in my opinion :)
