Beautiful Buildings of Melbourne- Part One- The U.S.S. Minnowprize!

in #travel6 years ago

While in Melbourne there was one thing that stood out way more than the colorful characters roaming through it.

That would be the interesting architecture of the city.

Old buildings stood next to new ones. Varying ages, shapes, designs... modern and classic mingling together to create an atmosphere that was altogether dazzling and intriguing.

Some building had distinct victorian tones. While others were glass and cement. Futuristic angles on some buildings that are reminiscent of Tomorrowland. And right next door would be a stark cookie cutter high rise attempting to resemble an adolescent skyscraper.

It was amazing, and in some way, a little discombobulating. We grabbed quite a few images so this will definitely need to be a two-parter!

Here you can see a perfect example! Sure, the building on the corner is the primary focus, but look at the buildings around it!

The tops of skyscrapers. Sorry for the blur, it was very windy!

The Post Office clock tower! (The inside of this large building appeared to be shops and offices, but it was rainy and we had a destination so we never ducked in)

Part of the Melbourne skyline as seen from Queen Victoria's Market. It is hard to believe from this angle that nestled in and around them are all kinds of old, small buildings!

The angles of this one is a little mind-boggling and can make you a little dizzy in person! Not to mention, that the bottom half is some kind of plate installation that shimmers and ripples in the wind! A video of that will go up in part two!

If we ever went back, I think it would take us a solid week to document all of the interesting things to see in just the surrounding buildings alone!

Keep your eyes peeled for Part Two tomorrow!

I really like the one in the first photo, the corner building

Thanks! That is one of my favourites, too! We passed it pretty much every day on the way down the street and we always slowed down a little to look at it!
Imagine having that whole place to yourself!

These photos are awesome, You did a great job indeed. I love more the photo number3, which contains a historical Building with a big Clock,
KEEP IT UP

Beautiful the city

I agree with you about the statement started from 'If we ever went back...'
By the way nice shot. I hope your next would be interesting like this or more than this. Greetings...

Beautiful architecture! I especially love the clock tower on the post office. They just don't build like that anymore!

Have an awesome time!
