Penguins at Boulder Beach Western Cape South Africa

The photo above shows a penguin between the boulders on a nest. There is a walkway on which you can walk and a number of penguins could be seen, quite close to the walkway.

My wife and I went on a short break in October 2015, where we visited a number of coastal towns in the Western Cape. One of the places visited was Boulder Beach, named after all the large boulders along the beach.

This beach is known for the penguins that come to nest there. It was interesting to me that there is no penguins to be seen on any of the beaches nearby, but there are quite a lot at this particular beach

Below you can see a number of the penquins on the beach.

The penguin below is still quite young.

The penguins were swimming in the see, and getting on the rock and then jumping in again. If you look closely you can see one jumping from the rock.

Some penguins swimming in the see, note the boulders everywhere.

This was a very enjoyable visit to this beach, just watching the penguins swimming in the see, they are just adorable.

All photos were taken by me, with my iPhone.

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it.

Thank you very much

Really cool . My wife Andrea and I are big penguin fans. How social were they? I've seen pics of people and wild penguins together. the people posting said; if they sat down, the penguins would hop right into their laps. Cool so long as they don't poop. :-D

In this case, the beach is protected from people walking in between the penguins, thus we did not interact with them. I think this is because this is a nesting area, and they don't want the people to disturb them.
