Switzerland Wonders: Lake Thun
Hello travelholics! Welcome to another episode of Travel with Me. Today, I will take you to one of my dream destination, Switzerland! So what are waiting for? Let's go!
As you can see from the map, Switzerland is surrounded by France, Germany, Austria, and Italy, hence, you can visit these four countries conveniently. However, Switzerland is well-known for being the most expensive place to live hence I have to plan this trip carefully. And after spending several days reading travel reviews and youtube travel vlogs, I made a decision to visit Interlaken. It lies between lake Thun and lake Brienz, hence it's named Interlaken.
How to get there?
If you are living in Asia, one of the most expensive part of the cost is the airfare so you need to book your ticket more than 2-3 months ahead of your departure. There are many apps you can use to find the cheapest flights and I personally use Traveloka. Luckily, I found a cheap roundtrip flight from Bangkok to Italy via Singapore Airlines which costs around 390 USD. The airport in Milan is connected to the train station. And if you plan to travel many countries, I recommend you buy Eurail Pass which allows you to have unlimited train and bus rides costing around 300 USD for 6 days unlimited travel in 4 different countries valid for 2 months.
Train Travel
After spending 3 days in Italy, I took the train from Milano Centrale station in Italy to Spiez station in Switzerland which takes around 2 hours. Here's what the atmosphere in the train looks like.
And yes, I finally arrived at Spiez. This is the view a few meters away from the train station where you can see the magnificent Lake Thun surrounded by pristine mountains.
Cruising Lake Thun
From this point, I walked my way to the boat station to cruise across Lake Thun to reach Interlaken. If you have a Eurail pass, then you don't need to buy boat ticket. Just show your pass and you are good to go. And the view from the boat is overwhelmingly breathtaking! Here's some snapshot I took.
I hope you enjoyed traveling with me! See you in my next destination.
