Travel Diary. Argentina Part III
South American Paris continues to delight us with its interesting places
Day 3: August 06th
The third dawned a beaatiful day. Very motivated, we went for a shopping tour along Corrientes Avenue, famous for being named in a popular tango by singer-songwriter Carlos Gardel. There are many interesting shops and we wanted to visit them. We had the chance to buy some gifts and souvenirs, as well as personal items.
At lunchtime, we went to a nice restaurant where we could taste the typical Argentine barbecue, which consists of diverse cuts of grilled meat accompanied by several contours. I must say it was a delicious dish.
We continued the tour, passing through the San Martin Theater. I remember that we entered a candy store where you could find a variety of sweets; we looked like little girls choosing candies of all kinds.
Then, we went to eat some Panchos, which is what Argentines call hot dogs, although they were a little different from what I was used to eat in my country, they were delicious. Then we headed back to the Monumental Fountain at the intersection of July 9th Av. with May Av., as it was very close to our location; where we spent a pleasant time.
Night was falling and it was time to return to the inn. On the way, we went to an ice cream shop, it might seem strange to eat ice cream on a cold winter night, but we didn't care about those details.
Before going to sleep, we stayed for a while in the living room of the inn; we were commenting that those rumors that Argentines were arrogant people did not seem true, since we always met very kind and supportive people wherever we were going. We also talked about the interesting things we had experienced and the expectations for everything we still had to live.
