Golden Ring of Russia

I invite you to my favourite tourist route, the Golden Ring of Russia, which goes through ancient cities of North-Eastern Rus’, the centres of national crafts.

Firstly, we’ll visit Suzdal’, a unique ancient Russian town, which has been preserved in its original state to the maximum: there are no ugly tower blocks, glowing supermarkets, or glaring ads here.

Here, wherever and from whichever point you look, you can see church domes rising above one-story wooden houses, and all of this isn’t just a coincidence. The original image of Suzdal’ has been preserved for many years on purpose. It has always been.

And, indeed, if you’re going somewhere for the Russian spirit, Russian ancientry, you certainly have to go here. Suzdal’ is a whole museum on its own, literally speaking.

A foreigner has to come here to find out what Russia was like before. A Russian has to come here to unite with their roots. And it’s a thing that surely happens: overlooking the town makes you feel like something clicks inside you, as if you’re trying to remember something.

The thing about Suzdal’ that really excites is the huge number of cathedrals. Only nine square kilometres of the town contain a total of 30 churches, 14 bell towers, and 5 monasteries!
