Necropolis of Myra

This is our entry for the 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Asian Sunday from @czechglobalhosts. These are the Lycian rock-cut tombs in Myra, Turkey. Myra was an ancient greek city where the town of Demre is today. Lycia was an ancient region at the southern coast of Turkey. These rock cut tombs served the Lycian people as a necropolis. There are several other rock-cut tombs you can visit today, when you travel through Antalya. We went to Turkey in March 2017 and stayed in a hotel in Alanya. Myra is a perfect daytrip if you are in this region. There were almost no other tourists, so we had the whole ruins for ourselves. Directly next to the tombs is the greek theatre of Myra, which is very impressive too.

Did you go inside? If so, how deep does it go in?

No it is not possible to go inside the tombs.

not possible... or not allowed?

As far as I know it is not possible, because the tombs are in the wall and there is no way leading to the tombs..
