History behind the temple establishment
When Shri Shankaracharya was walking around with his disciples, the country reached the shrine. Here was the ashram of Maharishi Bhavnadka and his son Rishashishringa. By reaching there, Shankaracharya saw that a cobra is spreading its wings and protecting it from the sunny heat of a pregnant ram. He was very impressed by seeing this scene. After that, he and the Devi Saraswati present in the form of a young woman Bharati along with them decided to stay here. And the idea of establishing Sringeri as Sharda Bench Sringeri is one of the five monasteries located in different parts of India. It is said that Adi Shankaracharya spent 12 years here. At the same time, around 4 other temples of Math established Kalbhairav, Durga, Anjheniya and Kali Mandir.
In the first temple, the Goddess Saraswati was a statue of sandalwood, after which a gold statue was installed here. After some time, Shri Bharti Krishna Tirath and Shri Vidyaranya made a renovation of the temple in which tiles have been used to double their beauty. On the occasion of Navratri and Dussehra, there is a very different look. In the Navaratri, which is celebrated for 11 days, there is a special kind of worship on the great day of Mahavami. On the day of Chaitra Shukla Purnima, special puja in the Sharda temple, on the day of Vaisakhi, Krishna Parvath Mahabashisam and Shri Shardabbal, on the day of Kartik Purnima, Deeptosav, Magh Shukla Panchami, on the day of Lalit Panchami, Jagadguru has a special puja in Shri Shardamba.
