This Abandoned Shopping Mall Was The Largest Aquarium In The World
Inquisitive photographer Jesse Rockwell who currently lives in Santa Rosa, California, discovered the abandoned shopping mall full of fish in Bangkok. The New World shopping mall was originally constructed as an 11 storey, breaching old town Bangkok’s four storey limit. That’s why authorities demolished the top seven floors in 1997. The mall caught fire in 1999 and since the New World shopping mall has remained abandoned.
The building has no roof and the basement floor always remains under water. In the early 2000’s someone introduced a small population of exotic koi and catfish species in it, resulting, the New World shopping mall became the largest fish aquarium in the world until the local authorities reportedly removed thousands of fish from the basement in 2015.
