48 Hours in Bali - Impossible? No way! The BEST International Weekend Getaway [Day 1]

in #travel7 years ago

Ever had a spare 48 hours over a long weekend and thought to yourself that it's too short to do an overseas trip? THINK AGAIN! It is entirely possible. You may have to sacrifice a little sleep but it's all worth it and as they say, sleep is for the dead!

Bridal Shower in Bali

This was a bit of an impromptu trip but had a very specific purpose, to celebrate the Bridal Shower / Hen's Party of a friend of mine. I was honestly sceptical about how possible it would be to have a relaxing and activity-filled holiday in basically two days but wow, this trip totally changed my opinion on what is possible in a weekend.

I had had a really intense week at work (those on Discord will know as I was completely MIA from Steemit and Discord) so a trip to Bali just snuck up on me and I was so tired but YOLO!

We landed in Bali after a 6 hour flight from Sydney Australia and were immediately thrown into the throngs of a tropical country, motorbikes everywhere, trees, honking cars and SUPER narrow streets - I will never again question how many cars can fit parallel in an alley.

Checking in and first lunch

We arrived at our resort in Seminyak and checked in, it was a VERY nice resort I have to say. Lots of marble everywhere, high ceilings and very nice open areas to enjoy the tropical breeze and warm weather.

Quick pitstop to freshen up in this amazing bathroom

I was STARVING at this point, having just flown 6 hours from Sydney and eating only a salad on the flight (trying to be healthy haha) I wasn't willing to wait much longer. Luckily it was not only cocktail happy hour (buy 2 get 1 free) but the food came out very quickly too!

We had some mi goreng (not instant!), balinese chicken with rice, 4 mojitos and some peanut/rice cracker things that were very addictive.

Home for the next 2 days

The resort is huge so we were driven by golf buggy to our villa. We were extremely luckily that we had a fairly large group (10 of us) so we got a 5-bedroom villa with our own private pool.

This was the door to our villa, it was like a resort within a resort!! Check out the entrance once you walk in...

There was even fish in the waters - I was very amused by this as it made me feel like we were in the 'natural' environment of Bali (even though obviously the fish had been placed there).

Huge common lounge / kitchen area with a few decorations for the bridal shower.

Our villa within the villa

There was 10 of us and 5 villas so we had 2 in a villa. They were again super luxurious with massive beds (loved the mosquito net, it felt quite romantic actually lol) and a very nice open bathroom that opened up so was a great way to wake up in the morning with a lovely breeze coming in.

A few hours to kill before dinner..? What else to do but SWIM!!

All aboard the flamingo express! The resort actually had blow up toys that the girls organised to have at our villa so it was super fun to play on the flamingos and whales when we had a few hours to kill. Also I loved the fact that we had a huge private pool, we could take a dip anytime and it felt like an exclusive private party!

Dinner time - the food in Bali is AMAZING and fantastic value

No that's not the name of the club, that is the actual name of the restaurant! I had to make huge collages for these photos as no joke, there was about 15 courses. I'm so glad I had that salad on the plane...

Entrees:

Yes I know, this was only entrees and we actually thought that was the whole dinner - we were already SO full and the waiters were like "So who's ready for mains?". We literally thought it was a joke but anyway, challenge accepted!

Mains:

Dessert:

Oh lord trust me when I say I was beyond stuffed. I wish I had worn my stretchy pants...I probably could have rolled all the way back to the resort but alas we were here to celebrate so off we went.

We had a pretty wild night so I actually don't have any photos from the club, but it was REALLY packed, a little too crowded for me but hey it was all for fun! The only bad thing was you're allowed to smoke in clubs in Bali so we absolutely stunk of cigarette smoke in our hair, clothes and my throat was super dry from breathing it all in.

Team No Sleep

Okay for all of you playing at home, you may have noticed that we left in Sydney in the morning and had a pretty long first day in Bali...how long? Well put it this way, I was awake for 24 hours straight! Woke up at 7am Sydney time and didn't get to sleep in Bali until 4am (i.e. 7am Sydney time THE NEXT DAY).

Oh well, sleep is for the dead right?!

That was it for Day 1 - thank you for reading til the end guys, stay tuned for Day 2!!

P.S. It is NOT easy to get on these flamingos...a lot of my photos looked like this, i.e. me looking like an idiot and capsizing multiple times before getting 'the shot'.

Peace y'all and SO GLAD TO BE BACK!

Yes he's a little creepy, but he has a big heart!

LOL omg this made me laugh!!! I was staring at the cartoon character trying to figure out where the food was but it's so well moulded to a face I hardly recognised it hahaha.

SUPER creepy looking but hey sometimes ugly is beautiful...thanks heaps for this comment and sharing that creepy cartoon haha

hahaha it's ALL I could see looking at that plate.

Too true, thank YOU for sharing your badass trip! Can't wait for day 2!

Dearest @phamished, what a wonderful trip you must have had! The images of the hotel and that bathroom, wow. And that food! We do seem to be living in turbulent times right now regarding compliments, and no one really knows where the line is any longer. Unfortunately, I am not able to say that you are outrageously gorgeous. So, rather, I will simply say that I did notice the circular, blue exclamation mark on your flamingo matches your bathing suit nicely.

It was pretty epic, I was really pleasantly surprised at not just how nice the accommodation and whole vibe was, but the food especially blew me away.

Haha don't worry I'm pretty easy going and hey if it's a compliment who can turn that down! You're super sweet for saying that, although I think most of it was probably the angle and lighting but I'll take it!! :D Stay tuned for day two coming shortly!

Beautiful place.. nice

Thanks! Yes Bali was absolutely amazing I’d love to go back as we really were only able to spend time at the resort and restaurants / clubs.

That looks and sounds amazing! An old man once told me when I was complaining of being tired "Boy, you can sleep when you're dead. You better live life while it is there to live." Sounds like you took similar advice. Well done!

100% I did!! Haha the alternative was to mope around and lay in bed but hey how often do you get to have a whirlwind trip in Bali? Thanks for the comment and stopping by!
