💡Tips for first time travellers!✈

First time to go out of the country? Don't worry because I will share with you some tips I learned from my experience.

TIPS FOR FIRST TIME TRAVELLERS:

  1. Go for the promo flights! YES! Don't you ever fall onto those very expensive flights just to show off because it's definitely not worth it especially when there are PROMOs just waiting for you to avail them. Isn't it awesome to save on the flight costs and add it up to your shopping budget? I recommend going to sites like AirAsia.com, CebuPacificAir.com, Skyscanner.net or Expedia.co.uk. Try choosing dates of departure and arrival JUST TO SEE HOW MUCH WOULD THE TOTAL COST BE. This will help your financial decision. I suggest this because featured promo flights are normally just one way so you better avail the lowest possible price of your way back.
  2. Pay it through over-the-counter (OTC) TO BE SURE. I tried paying through payment centers and ended up waiting for the next day to book our flight again due to system error. Well, this depends on you whichever is convenient for you. 😇
  3. General Planning. Planning in this case touches on issues about your vacant schedule to travel, conform with your travel buddies about their schedule too, pocket money or your budget for the trip(VERY IMPORTANT!), the appropriate clothes you'll bring, the handy snacks you'll bring, meds (if needed, or just to boost your immune system like Vitamin C), luggage you'll bring(carry on or checked in baggage?) and your gadgets and their respective chargers(you would't want to ran out of battery while posting: #happyvacation or #goodmorningHK, right?).
  4. Pack light. You wouldn't want to ran out of space for your souvenirs and "pasalubongs" so spare some space!
  5. Research about the country of destination. You better watch out for the DOs and DON'Ts of the country because the last thing you'd want is to offend their rules! And of course, take note of the tourist destinations and list down your itinerary while you're there just for you not to miss out popular places to go to. Or more so, have a copy of the city map for easy reference.
  6. Foreign Currency Exchange Rate. Make sure to know this and if you can use your debit card but beware of the charges as it gets higher than withdrawing from your home country via another bank's atm.
  7. MAKE SURE TO HAVE YOUR ACCOMMODATION CONFIRMATION! Destination countries are strict with making sure that you have a place to stay(confirmed!) so you should have booked your hotel/hostel/apartment and printed/saved in your gadget the confirmation to avoid being scolded/held by the immigration officer(like what we witnessed, poor family  😔 ) I would suggest Booking.com for they have very good and reputable choices.

These are just few essential things to bear in mind which I wished I knew before diving into costly mistakes before. Good luck my friends!

If you're done with all these things then you're definitely ready to go! Have a safe journey!

Great tips! Definitely do some homework before the trip. Love to explore into the local community. Most convenient is without language barrier, that will make things a lot easier

Thank you, @kimzwarch! Yeah, you're right. It's definitely a struggle if there is language barrier so preparations should be done hehe. I remember our silly moments not being able to communicate very well, we were told several times of, "No English, No English"! :) But it was a fun experience.:)

@pammie every time will be a learning moment and adventure too ;) Look forward to share more travel experience

Nice post! What are pasalubongs?

Hi @felixhugo! Pasalubongs are basically souvenirs too just that we use that term here in the Philippines to refer to goodies we take home for our families and friends. :)
