Our Life Story | Chapter 26 – No detour! And a question....steemCreated with Sketch.

After leaving Yosemite we had the idea to take the Pacific highway following the beautiful west coast.

Unfortunately for us, large parts of the Pacific highway are closed for maintenance. With our heads still thinking in Dutch distances we had a clever idea.

Let’s just drive the first piece along the coast which was still open and then find a detour to get past the closed pieces. Brilliant! Even after passing a dozen of signs that yelled NO DETOUR!

We still didn’t find the need to turn around and just kept thinking, there has to be a way around these closed parts.

What were we thinking…. Off course there wasn’t.

This made us turn around at the very last possible point to drive aaaall the way back to where we came from. After 4 hours we were at the same point where we started.

You don’t find these roads in The Netherlands, 4 hours driving takes you through the whole country haha.
Nevertheless we had a beautiful day filled with spectacular views and scenery’s.

Tired from driving all day we found a campground in Cambria to lay our heads for the night. Setting up our tent and cooking in pitch dark was another new experience, but we loved every minute of it!

Just another quick question for you guys, does anyone have an idea about why our posts don’t seem to get the votes we used to get? It seems to have changed since hardfork 18. Looks like we got deleted from the voting bot lists. All ideas are welcome 😊

Wondering where we are heading next? Be sure to follow and check our Instagram for even more pics of our journey.

Cambria is a wonderful town. If you get a chance, eat at Robins. You won't regret it. I have no affiliation, other than eating there for 15 years.

Looks great, too bad we already left Cambria. Just read your comments minutes ago, bad internet connection... :) But thank you for taking the time to comment.

Really appreciate it!

If you come to San Diego, I would be happy to share secret and not so secret cool spots.

Will be heading to San diego in the next couple of days, not sure when exactly. Would love to hear your recommendations ;)

I would be happy to share some tidbits with you. please contact me [email protected], and I will personalize for you.

Right off the bat, San Diego Glider port and Blacks Beach is at the top of my list. If you have the inclination to see animals, Scripps aquarium in La Jolla is outstanding, as is the Zoo and Safari park. Ocean Beach is good for the hippie night life, and a walk on the pier. If you go there,
Southbeach is a good place for Seafood, and upstairs has an ocean view of the pier.

Old town is fun but touristy. It is the oldest part of San diego, and the Presidio Museum is worth a visit. The Cosmopolitan Hotel in the center of Old Town is great.

It all depends on what you want... 8)

Thanks a lot for your advice, we wont be in San Diego for too long. But we will be going to blacks beach! Will send you a small token of our appreciation ;) have a great day!
