My holiday near Black sea in the South of Ukraine. Legend of the "Virgin" Tower! Bandura music sounds near the medieval fortress. Ukrainian beauties sing a Cossack song for you. Enjoy with me a walk around Akkerman! Part 4.

Hello dear friends! It was so interesting to have a walk around the medieval fortress  Akkerman, and I have made so many beautiful photos that I will continue to tell today about my walk in this historic place!

I took the first photo in credit to show you the greatness of this fortress from the Dniester's mouth! It's exciting! I am approaching the main entrance on  the bridge to the fortress, where the old coat of arms is visible!

The history of this ancient tower is rich and impressive. Many kings fought for her and reigned here! Here is the source ...

The extreme south-eastern tower of the fortress is called the Girl. It is located to the left of the Main Gate. The origin of the name "Girl" is associated with such a legend: During the time of the Moldavian principality was the owner of Alexander Dobry, who had a daughter Tamara. Princess Tamara was a girl very beautiful and cruel. She, along with the bandits, taking advantage of the lack of his father, often went to battle with the enemies, robbed the surrounding population.

One day, when Alexander Good was going to a new campaign, Tamara asked him money for the construction of the monastery. Father performed the daughter's request.

Of all the principality, people have been driven away. But not a house for God's servants intended to build Tamara. She built a powerful fortress over the estuary, in which she moved with her supporters, declaring herself an independent queen. Now robberies were raging out of the fortress. Robberies and fires destroyed the surrounding towns and villages. The rumor of a cruel queen-impostor rushed far beyond the Danube and the Dniester, even beyond the Black Sea.

But Alexander Dobry returned from the campaign. Instead of the monastery, he saw the fortress. Learning about the villainy daughter, the owner takes the fortress with battle, destroys robbers, and curses her beloved daughter. As soon as the words of his father's curse touched Tamara's ears, she immediately fell asleep. The sleeping girl was taken to the tower and, at the behest of the owner, burrowed in her walls. Since then, the tower is called "Virgin".

Thinking about these ancient events and being impressed with this magnificent place, I approached the girls who performed an old Ukrainian song on the bandura. Here is a nice video for you! Enjoy the culture of singing Ukraine!
