My travel in Croatia #Day One Porec # Part 1

in #travel5 years ago

Here I am finally with a PC available, now I can talk more about my little travel in that beautiful country that is Croatia! I loved this trip and these places, .a Croatia has remained in my heart as a unique and special place, it was from the university years (which with regret i never concluded) that I wanted to visit it, one of my Croatian professionals spoke to me always and I unfortunately have always postponed this trip, it was never the right time and when I finally managed to be in Croatia I exulted with joy.

This is the first of several posts that I will dedicate to this trip, today we talk about Porec!

My boyfriend start to lending me his camera, I am aneophyte and sometimes i take absurd photos, many of them quite ugly and unlikely. During our trip to Croatia I threw myself and I took a lot of photographs, because with his useless camera it was much better to deny it than with my cheap phone.  I swear, if the steem rises, I'll buy a new one. Actually i share some pics taken with my phone too, but you can see very well the difference.   Here are some of my photos taken in Croatia, today placed photos taken in Porec in Istria, where we were staying. A small tourist town located on the seaside , gracious and with many activities to choose from. Porec has remained in my heart, although it is a tourist place you breathe a 'quiet and peaceful, walking on its seafront is relaxing, but is likely to be expensive if you belong to the category of compulsive shopping / employees, because in those stalls selling really all at brash prices.

Careful perhaps to change coins, not all are honest, ask yourself well where to change money and look for the most convenient kiosk! However Porec is a nice place to spend some quiet time and there is a fabulous food bar on the promenade with lots of hamburgers and dishes at really low prices, especially  for beers, a giant jug cost only 2 euro and 50. In short, a place that I recommend you visit, even just for a walk if you plan to go to Croatia.

The promenade on the sea side where some artists exposed and sell theyr art.

Let's start from the place where I was staying, Porec, of the city I will talk in more detail as soon in this post. Today I will talk about the places I saw starting from me, from my impressions on them. Porec is a seaside town and as soon as you arrive the smell of the port is the first thing that catches us, along with the holiday of tourists who go around the stalls on the pier. Despite being mid-September this city seems to know no crisis, the streets are full and shops as well. On the pier you can breathe party air and I immediately feel like a good shopping maniac I can not fail to minutely inspect every stall. A lot of local products sell, their delicious honey grappa, the delicate wine with wild berries, lavender god bags that give off a sweet smell that leaves pleasant trails everywhere, sugary and hard sweets similar to our peaches with alkermens but without liquor, bracelets with anchors and decorations  made of shells and wood. The atmosphere that is created on the walk of the pier is dreamy, the sun beats strong and illuminates everything.

Walking along the pier we climb up some streets that lead us to the city center, with a certain annoyance we are often stopped by guys who try to get us into their restaurant, many speak Italian, others a funny mix of languages.
We stop only when a gentleman enchants us with his shadows cut out and for twelve wedges, price not very modest makes a "portrait" to my boyfriend trying to capture his beautiful profile in vignette.
Meanwhile, I take pictures and smile, because he is not really good at being still and be fixed!

By the way the result is nice and we decide to pay it.

We eat in a restaurant near some ruins, the sun is boiling and we could not wait to sit down and drink a nice "Pivo" that is a beer, a word that I learned very well these days as they sell in abundance! The restaurants are many and choose hard, lots of meat and lots of fish in the menus, not a place for vegetarians! Although there are also tasty dishes of truffle pasta and truffle cheeses, a real treat. The truffle is a local product very sold, not everyone appreciates the taste, for me it is a real delicacy.

Other typical Croatian products are olive oil and lavender, while traveling by car we have noticed many olive groves.

In short, my first impression of Poreč is positive, small and quiet despite being a tourist place. The city has many things to offer and not only in terms of catering but also boat trips, diving, trains and various fun activities, which for lack of time I could not attend, too many things to see in Croatia to stay still.

About Parenzo or Porec there are much more to say. In next post i will show you the city center and the history of this cool city.

I've wanted to travel there for a while and have heard it's beautiful and the people are nice too. Coming from Australia means we can't get there easily (it's a long way) and it's costly too but it's on the list.

Keep the posts coming.

Yes it's really a lovely place, well from Australia it's really far! A lot of plane hours right? From Italy it's not so far we travel by car ^^ And it's really cheap ^^

Yes, a lot of flying. From where I live about 7 hours to Singapore then about 13 to Rome so Croatia would be similar I guess.

Looking nice photo! Have a nice trip!
