Travel Challenge # 10: Krushunа waterfalls

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Our small country Bulgaria has gathered on its 111 000 sq. Km area, an amazing wealth of natural landmarks with exceptional beauty. From caves to waterfalls, natural phenomena, terrestrial pyramids to peaks and mountains. Today I will show you the unbelievable waterfalls. For many years I was planning to go, but something was messing up. I finally found a company to go with and there was nothing left to stop us.

The waterfalls are just 15-20 minutes away on a small eco path that starts from the hut. As you walk slow, do not forget to admire the beautiful greenery overgrown around the trees.

At the beginning, the path begins with stairs down and then curves along the river as it takes you to the largest water travertine cascade in the country, dotted with many thresholds, terraces and small pools - the Krushuna waterfalls.

The first impression that every visitor might have is that this place is like a film about some exotic island. The flowing water on the rocks seems to bring some adventure, and the brooks formed by the clear water of the river give peace and coziness.

The main waterfall descends from a height of 20 meters. It is divided into several sleeves and creates several more waterfalls. The water to the waterfall is damp and saturated with water drops. The area is completely impassable. Without the stairs and the eco-path you can not reach the source of the waterfall. It is hidden in the cave of the same name. There is a narrow path that runs under the limestone rock.

There are many eco-paths in the area that lead you to local attractions. Nearby is the Devetashka Cave, which has the largest entrance hall in Europe. It is the largest of the 60 caves in the area of Devetashko Plateau. There are four more caves in the area: "Boninska" (Popska) - 2753m., "Waterfall" - 1995m, Urushka - 1600m. And "Gornik" - 1080 m. The cascade of lakes and waterfalls inside the caves reveals the splendor of the underground nature.
Besides being a natural landmark, the area is also famous for its nearby mineral springs. Next to the Maarata Park, in its northern part, there is an open mineral water with a flow rate of 16.5 l / s, a temperature of 58 ° C and a mineralization of 11.5%. Its composition is analyzed and has proven effectiveness in the treatment of skin, musculoskeletal and neurological diseases.
