A little disappointed with my plans on the upcoming holiday

I was planning up a short expedition to one of the valleys in Shimla, in India. The place is called Spiti Valley. This valley is located in the northern part of India in the state of Himachal Pradesh. This valley is high in the Himalayas and considered to be one of the coldest regions in the country.

A local person by the name of Tashi organizes this expedition in groups or solo also if you wish. Some 6 months back I had got to know about his expeditions in the valley and since then it has been on my mind to visit the place. I was planning up for the month of February, towards the end, since I am planning to travel to India.
This particular expedition I want to do as a challenge to my own self. When it comes to cold, I feel that my body cannot handle that climate and it's a challenge to my own self to do this and overcome this block from my mind that I cannot bear cold.

Since the last few days, I have been interacting with Tashi to start making arrangements for my trip. I wanted to complete all the bookings. He had given me the date of 25th Feb for the next expedition that he was taking up.
He had told me about all the possible hardships that this place would give, like there are no toilets, you should not expect any fancy hotels, nor some fancy food. Everything was basic. Most of the nights there was home stay with the local people.
I was actually liking this idea of going around in the place in the most local manner and getting mixed up with the local people out there, understanding their way of life and living.
He sent me a picture of the toilet, it took me some time to come to terms with that, because it was nothing but a big hole in the ground, which after doing your job you need to fill it up with sand. Such is the life out there. Mentally I had started preparing myself for all of this.

In the beginning when I had checked with him, he mentioned to me that the temperature would be as low as -6 to -10 degrees. I had mentally prepared myself up for this challenge as well. Knowing me, who will freeze up in 10 degrees also, it is the biggest thing that I would do in life.
Yesterday when I was talking to Tashi and clarifying on a few points he mentioned to me that the temperature has suddenly dropped down and it is -37 degrees. For the first time I thought he made a mistake so I rechecked with him again and again for some 5 to 6 times, and after that checked it online and yes, the temperature has dropped down to -40 degrees. That's like insane.

I would like to do an expedition and challenge myself but this type of climate is crazy for me, I know my body will not survive in it. Even for -5 I was so much contemplating and had gathered strength to do it, but when he mentioned -37, I thought to myself I am not foolish to go ahead and kill myself knowingly, it would be as good as committing suicide. I am not even equipped with my gears to handle this type of climate.

If I do not go now, then the next, I will be able to go will be in the month of July as I will travel now and return back in 2 weeks' time and then my next travel will only be in July. I was so excited and looking forward to this adventure and now I am feeling very disappointed with this change, but then I cannot take this chance also.
