Les Îles Sous-le-Vent
Translating to "The Islands Under The Wind"
Do you love tropical climates and beaches?
The Tuamotus could not be anymore of a perfect place to be!
Located in French polynesia, these 80 atolls form the largest chain of atolls in the world.
These small atolls provide for great sealife. While diving, you will encounter a vast variety of corals, tropical fish, manta rays and so on.
It was a strange site seeing these rather large atolls from the air, I would say they resembled some type of jellyfish!
Small towns are located on these atolls. As there is no water source available on the island locals depend on rainfall. These atolls sit very low, nearly at sealevel, with the soil mainly made up of coral and sand not allowing for a diverse flora and fauna vegetation.
It's hard to think that these atolls were once towering islands that have sunk, only to leave the beaches intact.
Would you ever visit these mystical atolls?
It's a great place to travel to if you have interest in different cultures.
