The current president of Philippines, seems a lot like Trump in the US. All the people who need the government to hold their hand as they take risks, really hate that kind of leadership. Not that I care either way. But I have always loved the Philippines and Japan as awesome places on the world map I will never have the money to go visit.

@luke490 you sure don't know Duterte, the news that's going around is all manipulated. They just can't make him dance like a puppet in their hands so some people in power are destroying his reputation. I've lived in the Philippines for 33 years - we had no president like this one - most of the past presidents except Magsaysay kiss the Filipino Illuminati's asses but not Duterte. Before he became president many teenage girls were raped by drug addicts and most heinous crimes are caused by people who abuse drugs. Some drug users got too high and killed their own parents or family members. Beggars sniffing rugby roam Manila and late nights were not safe to take a stroll alone specially if you live around those University Belts in Manila. Plenty of dealers and users have surrendered to policemen and you know why? If a dealer or user is reported as one first, they send them a memo from the "barangay" that they know he's a user or a dealer and that if they surrender they'll send them to a rehab. No media has written that they only wrote about the killing in raids but those people where threatened by drug lords - that they'll hurt their family or kill them so they don't want to be caught alive because if they do they will have to blow the whistle against the drug lord. Sometimes they fight the police and so some of them die. I am not pro killing - I never would be I was damn glad when the stupid death penalty was vanished by another president years ago, but you see - I prefer a drug free Philippines than one that has plenty of people so hooked into it with dark futures and ruined lives. You have no idea what it's like to be hooked in drugs in the Philippines and once someone becomes a dealer - the only way out is death there not because of the police but the drug lord. He's not like Trump and I bet you don't understand Tagalog so I don't get it why you compare him to Trump. They're way different . He's the only president who never wears thousand peso worth of tuxedo in the office. He doesn't have a flawless reputation - unfortunately his opponents during the candidacy were worse that's why the masses voted for him. The media doesn't talk about his other programs - he's the only president who decided teachers' should get raise, to investigate on what happened to the million donations the country got for Haiyan back then and many more. When he was running for candidacy one of his promises is to make Philippines a drug free country and the people voted for him - because that's what we all want - minus the killing. He promised and he delivered - the Filipinos are happy. Of course, no one is happy about the killings - but if you were a policeman - would you not fireback and choose to die and leave a few mouths - depending on you hungry because you choose to die - for a drug user or dealer who's ruining other people's lives? I doubt it.
The post is about Boracay so I don't get it why you have to reel Duterte in here. Do you speak and understand Tagalog? Have you ever lived in the Philippines? If not - you know nothing of what really came out of his mouth and some video they air on the news are possibly spliced. The vast majority of the Filipinos have chosen him leave our President alone!

Thanks, It's hard to get good information. I kind of guessed Duterte was just trying to do what is right. And seeing that he is trying to manage a smaller land mass than Trump, I'm definitely more on his side than Trump's if it came to that.
