Travel Bucket List #11 Fiji Islands
For first time visitors to the Fiji Islands, Viti Levu will give you a taste of everything the country has to offer: Turquoise water, white sand beaches, jungle rivers and waterfalls and an authentic culture. Whether you are looking for a family getaway, a backpackers adventure or a casual stay at one of the many resorts you are sure to find the experience that is exactly right for you.
Visitors should also note that the climate varies significantly from east to west. The western side of the island is sun-drenched and dry whereas the verdant and often soggy eastern side gets as much as 100 inches of rainfall a year, so be sure to take this into account when planning your trip.
There is no shortage of things to do in Fiji, including snorkeling with vibrant coral and a vast array of marine life, taking an “off road jeep safari excursions, rafting down a jungle river and rich culture of friendly locals excited to wow you with their fire walking skills.

I was lucky enough to spend a month in Fiji, spread over a couple of islands, in 2002. What a beautiful place, and fond memories I have!
