ZAGREB TALES #2 - Let's have a cocktail @ Swanky Monkey Garden, one of the coolest bar in town

So it's hot Monday night in Zagreb, Celsius degrees are inexorable and you feel a bit lonely... You can do a lot of (stupid) things on a night like that so instead I called my friend Martina and we took a girl's night on town.

First stop - Swanky Monkey Garden.

Swanky Monkey Garden is a bar hidden in the backyard of Swanky Mint Hostel located in Zagreb's main street Ilica on number 50. And it's a bar with an attitude that locals love as much as the tourist that come on daily bases (and they are not only Swanky hostel guests).

Design of the bar is very eclectic - industrial interior of a former dry cleaning factory (found out about this fact on their website) combined with vintage, colorful furniture and all surrounded by beautiful garden/green terrace.

They have respectable cocktail list but we sort of played safe for the first time here (shame on me, I admit) and ordered Margarita and Mojito (my all time fav). Pleasant surprise! The taste was rich, luckily they don't try to economize on ingredients.

The prices here are acceptable, around 5-6 € per cocktail, probably little lower then European standard.

What I liked best here was the atmosphere - very relaxed and cosy, you feel like you're on private party at your friend's garden.

Type of people that come here is also very various - like I mentioned - many locals of any age (20-50), tourist (we saw some Danish group of friends, two Korean girls...didn't want to stare too much :D) and people with different sex orientation (like lesbian couple sitting next to us). Out of the box in all senses, place where (I guess) everybody that stops by feel comfortable. Definitely a plus.

Also, they try to contribute to Zagreb's night life so they have DJ's or live performances for almost every night in week. Look!
