Abandoned factory in Belgium
Intro
I have always seen myself a bit as an explorer. While most of the time I do my exploring whilst traveling in different countries, from time to time, I see if I can find some cool places nearby. Sometimes I find some, others I don't really. But this time around I found an incredible deserted factory building.
In regards to urban exploring, I'd say this is a relatively easy place to access. Only one fence that you can easily pass and from there it's walking through the building at ground floor until you see the huge metal stairs, which you follow all the way up. Easy peasy.
The factory
The metal stairs going up, give or take 10 floors. In the picture it's hard to see how high up this is, but take my word for it. Standing there, you'll feel it in your guts. For me, in the end urban exploring is about the thrill and the amazing reward of a beautiful view.
Once you arrive upstairs, you're standing on a see-through, metal platform. Glass from windows shattered all over it. Standing in one place, you start to pay more attention to the view you're getting. And well, that's what laways makes it well worth the effort!
From the top we get an almost 270° view (be it that you'll have to walk from one side to another for it). This was the side right next to the stairs we just walked up!
And if we walk all the way over to the other side, we get this amazing sunset view. In the distance you can see the river and other, still active, factories in this industrial zone.

Hell ya! I personally like the wilderness exploring more than the urban exploring, but I still think that it's really cool. My buddy Justin Jenny (one of the most talented photographers I know - https://www.justinjenny.com/portfolio) is really into urban exploring and photographing old abandoned buildings and that kinda stuff. I've really gotta try to get him on Steemit already.
I think I like a good mix of both, haha!

And yes, you should, get all those buildings on the map while we're at it, haha!
BTW @martibis I love how clean your steemitworldmap link is... just "Find this place on the Steemit world map" and thats it. Thats lookin' nice. I've been putting my coordinates as well as linking the steemitworldmap.com website and centering it all to try and make it look clean, but... long story short... how do I link it so that It looks like yours!! I really like it!
Haha, it's something I've been working on a while now!
I don't know if you've checked, but the code changed a little bit. So if you're using the raw html editor (with markdown etc.), the tag won't show up anymore.
Unfortunately, if you're using the build in editor, this little trick didn't work. BUT we are looking in a way to generate an SVG image with the link already embedded in there. Just not sure how easy that'll be to do!
EDIT: One thing you can do is post the code in "the image link" in the editor, that way it should still be in the post be it hidden!
great photos! I love great finds like that, people call me crazy for wanting to go into every cemetery I see lol :) Never thought of doing abandoned buildings...There's a lot of those here in Ireland. Now I'm getting ideas haha. Sorry for the non-upvote, but a bit short on voting power (fingers were trigger happy lol)

I knew you'd understand ;) (not that my 4 cents are going to do much lol. Yeah, been out of the upvoting game for a couple of days now, it's HARD :) We have a lot of abandoned churches and farms around here, and even though it would be a little illegal maybe, I feel very tempted now. 😈
It'll slowly but steadily go back up, wouldn't worry too much about it!
