RE: 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - European Thursday week #100 - the absolute winner takes 200 Steem!
The Columbus Monument in Barcelona situated where La Rambla (a famous central boulevard with a broad alley for pedestrians...and shops, and restaurants...) meets the Spanish harbor where the explorer returned to Europe after his first expedition to the Americas. The column is 60 m tall and has lots of nice detail. But here I try to show its silhouette along with the crowns of the trees of the boulevard, as inspired by local painters.

This brings me some great memories.
I was in Barcelona in 2 consecutive years in 2003 and 2004.
And I absolutely fell in love with that city.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to visit it again. Perhaps some day in the future...

It must have been less populated, and quite cleaner. Talking about touristic infrastructure, too. One can't see a pristine place without some railings or even people building more stuff around.
