Rappelling

This photo was original taken from Mt. Daraitan.

Rappelling is part of the training and activities in mountaineering. We need to descend a rock face using a doubled rope coiled around the body and fixed at a higher point.

Location: Mt. Daraitan, Tanay, Rizal

Mt. Daraitan is a tropical forest, limestone formations, and river trek. Mt. Daraitan has more rewarding limestone viewpoints and a much more challenging hike. This is also a popular camping ground which gives the option of exploring the springs, natural pools, and caves in the area.

Tips:
• Sit fully in the harness and have your hips bent at 90 degrees so your legs are straight and pushing you out from the wall. Keep in mind the weight will cause you to move down the rope faster.
• Be aware of branches, ledges, and anything you might rappel down onto.

Nice. Do you also boulder or rock-climb? Eg. do you also go up? :)
