City Travel #6 | Chiang Mai - Thailand

in #travel7 years ago

Chiang Mai, that means "New City" its a city of a great cultural religious heritage, the city has over 300 temples some splendid and others abandoned. Nonetheless it's a very busy city, the largest of northern Thailand dos not stay behind the paradisiacal competition from the south.

The entire ancient city its surrounded by a square wall and water channels and there is four big doors to enter the ancient city in each side of the square wall. When me and my father enter the ancient city we where in adventure mode.

So we didn't know anything about the city where were the main tourist attractions, and we didn't' wanted to know, it is a relatively small city center with a temple in each corner so not that difficult to be surprised. We where very surprised by the amount of traffic in and around the city, and when we arrived we realized how much it had air pollution.

After we entered the city we found a hidden garden, I was so surprised that just a few meters from all the noise and the pollution where this little place of silence.

Inside the garden they had place to chill and chat with a restaurant that you could buy some food, the garden had many statues, I had a great time appreciating and taking photos of them.

After staying some time in the garden we continue our discovery of the city and we enter in our first temple Wat Jedlin:

Our Last temple of the day was the famous Wat Chedi Luang. This was the temple where there was the most tourist, but not only. There was a ceremony preparation going one in the temple, a lot of workers and monks coming and going, me and my father were asking ourself what was happening.

In one of the outside small temple there was a strange thing, women were not allowed to enter. Of curse there's the general rules about entering temples like not using shorts and entering barefoot but this was the first time I saw a sign like this. Inside this little temple it was gorgeous, there were beautiful paintings on the wall with amazing attention to detail.

And inside:

All around the temple there was something going on to the ceremony, we where so curious about what was happening that we asked a monk and he said it was a celebration of the ancient master that died a few years ago. There were thees woman making some beautiful pineapples and it was looking delicious.

This was all in one day and I already was impressed and indescribably in love with temples. 😂

Anyway I hope you liked this post as much as I liked this day

Peace out
