It is my very first time in the United States and I am pretty excited to visit all the beautiful and stunning places everyone has been talking about. Follow me on my journey!

First Stop: Grand-Canyon-Nationalpark in Arizona

The Grand Canyon Park is located in Arizona - a state in the southwestern region of the United States. It is a colorful, deep, steep-sided gorge, carved by the Colorado River. The Grand Canyon is often considered one of the Wonders of the World and have been created over millions of years and reach a depth of up to 1,600 meters over a length of 446 kilometers. It was created by the Colorado River. The park, which covers 1,217,262 acres of unincorporated area in Coconino and Mohave countries, received nearly six million recreational visitors in 2016, which is the second highest count of all U.S. national parks after Great Smoky Mountains National Park (between Tennessee and North Carolina). The Park has two entrance: a North and a South Rim. The most visited area of the canyon is the southern Rim- this site has a great selection of visitor attractions.

North Rim

The North Rim is a smaller, more remote area with less tourist activity. It is accessed by Arizona State Route 67.

South Rim

The South Rim is more accessible than the North Rim; most visitors to the park come to the South Rim, arriving on Arizona State Route 64. The highway enters the park through the South Entrance, near Tusayan, Arizona, and heads eastward, leaving the park through the East Entrance. Interstate 40 provides access to the area from the south. From the north, U.S. Route89 connects Utah, Colorado, and the North Rim to the South Rim.

When we arrived at the park, we had to walk about 10 minutes to get to the Grand Canyon view. I coudn´t believe what I saw in front of my eyes. Your breath is taken away as soon as you finally make it up the view point of 1700 m above the sea level. Especially, when you are surrounded by total silence. It offers stunning panoramic views and fantastic landscapes. The combination of size, depth and exposed layers of colorful rocks made the Grand Canyon very unique. The weather was pretty perfect for our visit, although Arizona is known for its hot and dry climate. However, the temperatures are strongly dependent on the altitude position: the lower the position, the higher the temperatures.

Of course I captured the dreamlike moments for you. I hope I can bring you a bit closer to the experience of seeing the beauty of the Grand Canyons through my video! Enjoy!

The 5 hours drive from Las Vegas was super tiring but still worth it. The Grand Canyon should not be missed on a trip through New Mexico, Arizona and/or Utah! My next post will be about Las Vegas - The Gambling Capital of the World. Is anyone of you currently on vacation? Feel free to share it with me, I would love reading your posts.

Much love, Lisa
