The Hitachi Tree
In Moanalua Gardens (Honolulu, Hawaii), where I live, there is a park. In this park is a tree known to Japanese tourists. It became famous after being used in Hitachi’s advertisements starting from 1973. They say it is over 130 years old. The tree is generically known as a monkey pod tree but its scientific name is Samanea saman.
Most photos of the 40-meter wide tree are from the outside but the view from the inside is spectacular. The many branches, to me, are like a metaphor for how everything is connected; like the blood vessels in the body or the synapses of the brain or a great cosmic web. I bet the root system must be equally impressive; so below like above.
“Woven into our lives is the very fire from the stars and genes from the sea creatures, and everyone, utterly everyone, is kin in the radiant tapestry of being.”

Hi lightrhythm,
I think I have seen this tree in ad you mentioned. Thanks for posting.
Did you climb the tree to click those branches? Or clicked from ground?
From the ground. I probably would have been removed from the premises had I done that, lol!
Ohk. Tree has got security.
Grounds keepers. But if I saw me climbing the tree, I'd kick me out too :)
This would make a great entry with a sign in my photo challenge on top of the promoted page! Awesome tree
Tnx! I'll check it out.
