Strolling in Locarno, Switzerland to enjoy the leisurely pace of life

Piazza Grande is the biggest square in Locarno. It’s also a meeting place, you can stroll under the famous arcades and do some shopping, enjoying a cup of coffee or lunch.

Due to an average of 2,300 hours of sunshine per year, there are also many events held every year. For example the weekly market takes place here, many concerts are hold in summer, and film projections during the Film Festival in August.

Locarno is also one of the oldest cities in Switzerland. Going back to the Roman times, it already was a very important commercial city. There are various witnesses of the past, the old church ruins underground of the city, and Castello Visconteo persevered well and still looks amazing.
