Egyptian Museum of Berlin, Germany

Hello friends.

Today the theme is the Egyptian Museum of Berlin, housed in the Neues Museum on Berlin’s Museum Island.

The Egyptian Museum displays some of the world's most important ancient Egyptian artifacts, among which the bust of Queen Nefertiti, the wife of the Egyptian Pharaoh Akhenaten. The bust is 3,300 years old, and was found in a workshop in Amarna, Egypt. You can read more about it at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nefertiti_Bust.

When I visited the museum, the bust was kept in its own room, and there was a queue to get in. The room was dark, and there was a security guard prohibiting taking pictures, so I don't have any pictures of my own to show.

There were a lot of other stunning objects in the museum, like for example sarcophagi, gold jewels and artifacts, canopic jars, sculptures, and some amazing murals.

Canopic jars, used to store bodily parts and then buried with the body

Various sarcophagi on display

Gold jewels and artifacts

Gold ceremonial hat

Beautiful murals

Amazing sculptures

I hope you like my pictures, and be inspired to visit this incredible museum if you ever find your way to Berlin.

Just incredible cultural artefacts. The Nefertiti bust is mindblowing. And her story too :-)

would definitely give the museum a visit after your post, great post, check my blog for photos taken from the british museum for more photos of Egypt

as beautiful as they are , in truth they should be returned to Egypt as its their history and with the new musuem opening next to the pyramids , this is where they should be house, right next to Tut-an-khamun!

I had the privilege of visiting the Egyptian wing at both the Louvre in Paris and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. These images you have presented here are beautiful, particularly the bust of Queen Nefertiti.

I have upvoted this post and featured this on my hidden gems blog. Awesome images and thanks for sharing some of the artifacts from this museum.

Thank you very much. You are encouraging me to do another post about museums. :-)
The picture of the bust though is not my own. I wish i could take my own pictures of it.

Does the museum forbid taking photos of the bust?

Yes, they didn't let me take picture of the bust.
They let me take pictures of everything else.
Maybe the light is bad for the bust, because it was kept in a dark room too.

i will definitely do if i ever visit Berlin ! thank you

Glad you liked them!

Thank you for posting your travels and experience. This particular Queen has a most interesting history. Cheers.
