RE: Tragedy of Sad History.

Something there is that doesn’t love a wall,
That sends the frozen-ground-swell under it,
And spills the upper boulders in the sun;
And makes gaps even two can pass abreast.
The work of hunters is another thing:
I have come after them and made repair
Where they have left not one stone on a stone

It is one thing to mend a wall, @slowwalker, it is another thing to disrespect and destroy it. These people have no regard for tradition or the past, and unlike you, they never reflect on what they are doing.

The ancient walls are part of the heritage and culture of Seoul and it's shameful to allow people to flaunt it and use the stones for their own purposes simply to save money on construction.

My wife and I often go on hikes on trails around our home and we see plants and rocks in the woods that we would like to use in our garden, but we don't take them. People need to respect things - plants and animals and all the natural beauty around us--and to protect our cultural heritage.

This was a good post, @slowwalker, highlighting the need to protect our traditions and our national monuments and buildings.
