Why Bolinao, Pangasinan Should Be Your Next Travel Destination

Another weekend well spent. Explored another tourist destination on North Luzon. Yes! We went to Pangasinan this time. We were very excited to start our day tour, like, really! If you’re planning to have a day tour, I suggest to start your trip as early as possible to make the most of it. Avoid visiting during weekend if you want to own the whole place by yourself since the beauty of this majestic place is gaining popularity among travel enthusiasts.

How to Get There:

It is very easy to commute to this place, only 5-6 hours away via public transportation from Manila. There are several bus lines that are bound to Bolinao, Pangasinan. But if you want direct trips, you may take Victory Liner (available in Cubao terminal only) or Five Star Bus (available in Pasay terminal only). Fare is 450-460PHP if you want Deluxe Airconditioned bus and 300-350PHP for non airconditioned bus ( you can also use your student discount for a 20% off )

Upon arrival in Bolinao Terminal you can already hire a tricycle driver. It would only costs you 800-1200 good for 5pax already (based on your haggling skills) for your whole day tour around Bolinao!

Places to Visit:

1. BOLINAO FALLS 1 & 2

This 25 feet falls is perfect for you to unleash your thrill seeker self. Yep! Cliff jumping is allowed just make sure you know how to swim because the water is deep. I'd always wanted to try cliff jumping unfortunately I don't have enough courage to try it! So during our stay there nag enjoy na lang talaga ko sa paglangoy and watching those fellow tourists while they are making some stunts habang tumatalon. However you can try bamboo rafting if you want to go near the falls to experience the therapeutic massage effect of the flow of the water on your back.()

Bolinao Falls 2

ENCHANTED CAVE

According to the locals this is a must visit attraction in Bolinao. The entire place is indeed magical. You can swim on the clear water inside the cave or if you're afraid of the dark, you can tour around the area and just enjoy the nature. I swear, everything in this magical place is instagram worthy! However we did not spend much time inside the cave since we're all excited to go to Patar Beach.

Entrance Fee: 150PHP (inclusion of swimming in the cave)

CAPE BOLINAO LIGHTHOUSE

On our way to Patar Beach we made a stop at the famous lighthouse in this town. Cape Bolinao Lighthouse is currently the second tallest lighthouse in the Philippines after Cape Bojeador in Ilocos, providing you a panoramic view of West Philippines sea. It rises 351 feet (107 mASL) atop Punta Piedra Point, a towering hill of solid rock which is the sharp point of Cape Bolinao itself. It was built by the Americans in 1903. The lighthouse still sends signals to vessels passing by the area. Unlike before, entering the lighthouse is not allowed nowadays however you can still enjoy the great view for free!!

PATAR BEACH

This is my first ever beach experience in the province of Pangasinan so I was super excited when I heard that we are going to stay here for a couple of hours to enjoy the beach. I love going to the beach, the water, feeling that sunshine warm my face instantly lifts up my spirit, taking a walk along the shore. ahhh omgg tranquility! Yep, because sometimes, we just need to take a break from reality.

And Patar Beach didn't disappoint me from the clear blue skies and the crystal clear waters were just wonderful. The ravishing golden sand and the rock formations on the far end also looked promising. And what really excites me is knowing that we can experience all of this for free! We only paid 100php for the cottage. Sounds great right?

Rock Formation

If you still have plenty of time you can visit this 20 kilometer rock formation at the far end of Patar Beach. It offers the best view of West Philippine sea in front of the coast. You will also observe the seawater splashing right to the rock walls. If you're brave enough you can climb up to the rock formation and have that mandatory picture.

Sungayan Grill

A good travel won’t be complete without good food to fill your tummy. Sungayan Grill is a native floating restaurant in Balingasay river, one of the cleanest river in the country. You shouldn't miss their specialty, the sungayan fish, said to be the most delicious fish in Balingasay.

I was surprised when our order arrived, I didn't expect their serving to be this big for a very affordable price. You can also experience their river cruise while eating.

1,200 pesos per bilao good for 8-10 pax (additional of 1000PHP if you want to experience their river cruise service)
